I agree with both your point on Gregory and on society in general... The NFL is getting more and more lax regarding the stuff anyway. I doubt it effects his draft status that much. Especially since 2 months will pass before draft day. Theres a good chance he won't even be on the board for the Jets pick
If the NFL Players Assoc. or individual players sue the league if they are penalized for any kind of drug violation it could open up a Pandora's Box. We've already seen this with ex-players suing the NFL in terms of concussions, etc that were incurred during their playing days. The NFL settled a law suit with players for over 700 million but there could and probably will be more coming in the future. Even though players know they are at risk when they play in the NFL (and I'm sure they are now signing disclosures saying they are aware of any potential physical harm)-legally the NFL is liable for players injured during their tenure as players even though the players are aware and signed documents stating they knew of the risk. This is an issue for the courts and a big problem for the future of the NFL. The same could be true on banned substances. If a player is disciplined and sues saying it's legal or he has a prescription could they overturn an NFL drug policy in court. And then later if they sustain injury or physical/mental problems due to taking this substance even though it was voluntary they could sue the NFL for allowing them to do it. It's a no win situation in our litigous society when you can sue somebody for not giving you the freedom of choice and then sue them later for allowing you to do it.
Just to follow up on my above post. Bountygate was theoretically about protecting player safety. And it dealt with strong penalties against players and coaches who were involved in supposedly an organized campaign to injure other players. But it proved if you have money and you lawyer up you can reverse a league disciplinary action. On the other hand if the NFL let it slide and did nothing in terms of discipline (and they knew about these bounties) other players could sue them for negligence. It's a no-win.
Beasley i think is a more versatile pass rusher. he used all kinds of moves. off the edge, spin isnide, bull rushes, was great on stunts, over under getting past the tackle and then inside the back. to be he is the complete package as a pass rusher and the best i have seen in maybe a decade since merriman was still on roids and freeney was in his prime
i really disagree with the "doesnt have alpha dog tenacity part". to me thats like his biggest strength... his tenacity.

He is good off the edge, he has an OK spin move, his bull rush is awful because of his physical limitations, he stunt himself right out of plays, he is not very good at shedding blocks considering he gets pushed off the line way more than not. Most of his production came at the hands of weaker competition. He is not a physical freak, he does not play strong, he is extremely weak against the run, is not good in coverage, has an average to above average set of pass rushing moves. The only thing I think he has over anyone at the EDGE spot in the draft is the fact that he probably has the fastest get off of the line than any other prospect in the draft. That's it for me though. IMO
Pot smoking for a young'in , not a big deal. Jets passed on Sapp for that same reason. Will they do the same again? I'd take Gregory at 6 and not look back.

if he's a regular pot user its gonna be a problem as long as the rules are what they are, dumb or outdated in sensibilities as they are. hes no good to us if he's liable to get suspended often, thats the unfortunate reality until or unless the rules change. why risk such a high pick on a player who couldn't muster up the restraint to NOT do something that will get him suspended at a crucial moment? talent means nothing if you get suspended… keeping in mind I'm not about judging him for using in general. it is what it is.
Why would he be tripping over mangold? Mangold plays offense on his own team God I hope so. I want fowler in green and white so bad. He would take this defense from great to elite.

I'd like to point out that what you foresee happening is literally impossible; due to logic. You wrote that the Raiders either take White or Cooper then Redskins take White or Cooper then the Jets either pick Mariota if he's there or forfeit their pick if he's not. This is because it's pretty hard to pick White or Cooper directly after they've both been picked. Should probably work on foreseeing some different scenarios.

Since you have demonstrated some grasp of colors I've taken the liberty to change the font color for two out of the three players you suggest as options for the 6th pick; immediately after mocking both of those players to the 4th and 5th spots 100% of the time in your "scenario". Then I used a third color for the remaining option that you mocked to the 6th (and 2nd) spot. I did that to help you understand that if Mariota gets drafted 2nd (which prevailing pundits rate to be the likelier scenario at this moment) then you have provided no remaining potential picks to the Jets. In case you're wondering, I chose brown and reddish brown to stick with the 'poop' and 'bloody poop" quality your visions seem to have.
If he can't cover we don't need him. Shaq Thompson had 5 interceptions. That's the kind of OLB we need.
