I've watched tape on a lot of players in this year's class... After doing so I've come to the conclusion that these players at there respective position off the most for what we need.
    I'll explain.
Mariota if he's good obviously would be the best but there are too many question marks.
Cooper is going to be a stud but for some reason I don't think he'll either be there at 6 or if the jets would go WR at that spot. Also there is some talent in the end of round 1 early round two area if we trade down. (I,e J.Strong., Green-Beckham)
Scherff is going to be great but there is a pretty good crop of Olinemen to be had in the middle rounds.
Obviously we can't pick everyone but when I look at BAP at #6 Gregory Beasley and Fowler all would maximize the draft selection
These three guys happen to fill a need but quite honestly I think they would offer the most production from this spot.
I know some of you hate the idea of drafting a defensive player with our 1st pick but, when you look at it from BPA and an immediate production standpoint its hard to argue they wouldn't fit the Bill.
If you have to wonder if Mariotas numbers could possibly be compared with Bryce Pettys in the NFL I think my point would be made. You don't know what Mariota would be and technically at number 6 if your going off of my metrics he wouldn't be the answer and i don't feel the drop off in talent and potential talent is as great at the other positions then they are after those three guys.
I know I'll be bashed by some but quite frankly I don't mind. It's all opinion and conversation brings out ideas. This is just my opinion.
Oh yeah.. I'd trade out of 6 btw. If I were GM I'd definitely trade back. Get some picks draft intelligently. Tons of talent in rounds 2 through 4. Go JETS

I don't disagree with what I think you were trying to say but reading your post made my brain yell.

One of the three will be there, most likely two of the three. If it's not Fowler there I take Gregory. Unless we are looking for speed then it's Beasley. From what I can tell about Bowles is I think he wants to add athleticism and speed to the D. So he may prefer Beasley over those two which I feel there game is more brute style. But Gregory is no slouch in the speed and athleticism department. Tough, Tough choice. @stinkyB

I'd get into this conversation if I already hadn't a number of times in the draft forum

Actually that is a little harsh. Hey Cr8zMike, the best place to put a thread like this or join a conversation like this is the draft forum, sorry if I came off jerky

What is this crap that I am seeing in Mcshay and Dracula's mocks that we are getting Randy Gregory?

I don't see that happening...I will be pissed.

This is what I forsee going on

    1) Buccs - Winston
    2) Titans - Williams/Mariota
    3) Jags - Williams/Fowler
    4) Raiders - White/Cooper
    5) Redskins - White/Cooper
    6) Jets - Mariota/White/Cooper

Would you cry if the Jets took Gregory? I'd be very skeptical about his behavior but I'd also expect him to be the rookie of the year on defense. Then I'd expect him to get in trouble but dang that would be a fun rookie season

When I see a kid jumping off the line in those red and white colors I get nightmares of this...

Besides the off the field stuff, Gregory is a stud. If Bowles can keep him straight, he can really be a player. But there is obviously risk with him. It's a tough situation. But a lot of good players have dealt with issues. He need a strong support group.

What actual real comparisons to Gholston really apply though? Stop giving yourself stupid nightmares based on ignorance

He plays like a crazy animal and needs a couple of moves to put him over the top, he's not bench pressing offensive linemen in one game to impress scouts

Look you can scratch Gregory from that list. Whether you're pro or anti grass he did it. And if you know you're going to have to submit a sample and your entire future depends on passing a drug test and you still fail then there's no way you shouldn't fall. There has to be some semblance of discipline and smartness about a player going this high. The expectations have to be high. You don't want a guy who is already failing drug tests.

How about you know your role and shut your mouth?

I can have nightmares of whatever I please. Pot addiction is a problem, I don't care what anyone says. I don't want someone who is high as a kite on 3rd down trying to sack the QB but ends up tripping over Mangold's big ass.

Is Jacksonville a lock to go with Fowler over the others? Beasley seems like he'd be a great fit for them too

Everyone I talk to who followed the SEC thought Beasley played too small. Boom or bust pick
