If RGIII is available, do the Jets make a move for him?

This may have been a thread before, I just haven't seen it.

With the all the rumblings about Washington hosting Mariota or maybe selecting him at number five,I was curious to know what fans thought about maybe the Jets acquiring Robert Griffin III

His skill set seems perfect for the spread offense that Gailey wants to run.

    Speak amongst yourselves...

He is too injury prone and has a tendency of throwing temper tantrums when he dosnt get what he wants. Why would we trade for that?

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather have Geno.

I can't believe it either. As much as I'd prefer not to have RG3, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Geno.

He a much better QB. Injury prone and while his main weakness is the same as Geno's, his is not as acute and CAN be compensated for with his talents. Not my plan, but you could do it.

I assume you're factoring in the possible cost of acquiring him, because otherwise, how are those two even close?

This is a great question. And I don't know how to answer it. His first year the guy looked like a star-on a level with Luck. But now he looks to be on a downward spiral. There were even some rumors before the Jets hired Bowles that his Baylor HC Art Briles was a possible candidate for the Jets job and if so they would trade for RG3. The thing is if you traded for him even if he came cheap you'd basically have to plan the entire team around him and commit yourself to him. That's the part I'm not sure of. I'd hate if he continues regressing to lose a few years trying to develop him.

The Redskins are going to want more than I'd be willing to give..... He hasn't been the same sence the playoff game where he tore his ACL...... I'd pass.....

His boom or bust so the price would have to be very cost effective for me to want to take the chance on him.
No way I'd give anything more then a 3rd rd pick for him and even that is iffy.

I have a feeling that during this trip to work out Mariota, we are going to make a decision as to whether or not to trade up to take the kid.
If the workout goes well I can see us trying to make the bold move to jump up and grab him. There's no way I see him lasting till the 6th pick, someone will jump ahead of us fearing we will take him.

Agree. I would take him over Geno and name him starting over Geno today.

BUT, that's prolly not a long term solution. Run a modified spread/read O and see what's better, him or Fitz going into the season.

Don't trade much for him, at all.

Yes, I was speaking in a vacuum. I'm not trading much for him.

The factor is the owner of the Redskins here. And his allegiance to RG3. Will he choose a novice HC in Jay Gruden over his supposed franchise Qb. It looks like Gruden hates RG3. He even said the Redskins could draft a Qb. I think the new GM (who is well-respected in the NFL) said something to that effect to. So if they draft Mariota it would seem that Griffin is out. Wash still has Colt McCoy and Cousins on their roster.
