Took long enough for this to happen. I'm guessing the Jets were willing to let it go providing nothing came out of the NE charges and now I wonder what they may have heard. Certainly Kraft tampered way more than Johnson did and I assume he did it intentionally knowing what charges his team had filed against the jets. All smoke to cover deflategate but the answers on that are coming soon and he won't be able to stop it.
I thought they would be finished by now but I'm sure Kraft bought more time so as not to be embarrassed this week.
Commenting on another player under contract to another team. If you think the Jets charges are bs then you know the cheaters charges are more bs. so I would guess you don't know what tampering is either. MAN MAKE A VALID POINT OR MOVE ALONG
Do you have a different definition that this, let's hear it. The league's tampering policy prevents "any interference by a member club with the employer-employee relationship of another club or any attempt by a club to impermissibly induce a person to seek employment with that club or with the NFL."
And Kraft was still tampering yesterday. “We thought we made a very competitive offer,” Kraft said. “I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots. We wanted to keep him, we wanted him in our system and we have certain disciplines. We had hoped it worked out. It didn’t. We just don’t think about the short term decisions. We just don’t look at this year. We look out at the next few years. We’ve done okay doing that.” http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...d-revis-belichick-made-call-article-1.2160079
Both tampering charges are bullshit. What Johnson said is tampering if you follow the letter of the rule, Kraft's is too, but is a bit more of a grey area. Do you think the Jets would have filed their charge if the Pats hadn't? Of course not. It's quid pro quo. And it's petty childish crap. But they started it! I think if Woody was looking at a fine only, he may not have bothered, but if there was a chance of losing a draft pick? Why not retaliate?
This is what I don't think he gets or many Pats fans get. Woody didn't file these charges because he's upset about Kraft "tampering" or feels like he did, but instead, he filed them because it proves that his original remarks being taken as tampering are complete bullshit. What this does is not just mock New England and their bullshit, but it further shows that these tampering charges are childish and should be thrown out. Revis left New England because they couldn't pay him what he wanted. He didn't leave because he had more time to think about it once Woody made it clear he wanted him back. Patriot fans are just really butt hurt about losing him to us and their lack of moves in free agency. It's sad though. A team that just came off a Superbowl win is still completely attached to what the New York Jets do and say. No matter how good their marriage is, they still always bring back that ex in their lives
When I saw his comments the other day I was thinking we should file charges too. I didn't think we would but I am glad we did. this should ensure nothing comes out of the silly Woody comments
It's amazing how inside the heads of other teams the Patriots have gotten over the years... the Colts, the Ravens, the Jets... time and again. For the record, I think both charges of tampering (Jets and Patriots) are beyond stupid and should warrant no penalties.
Maybe not by cap standards but the dollars have to come from someone's wallet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You're right but as long as the NFL hasn't dismissed the Pats nonsense the Jets have no choice. In the end Revis would go where ever the most money was and everybody knows that it wouldn't matter who said what.
Revis went back to the jets because that is who he is - a jet. He wanted to go back last year as well but your owner said no.
Kraft knew he was violating the tampering rule when he made those comments unless he is just plain stupid which I doubt and especially after just filing charging against the Jets. I would almost think he is looking for a way that both teams can drop the charges against the other and make the whole thing go away.
he is discussing a player under contract w/ another team and how he wish he still he had him. same thing as Woody's comment.
Yes and in context both people were speaking in the past tense although both made a comment that when taken out of context can be construed as present tense. The funny part is that Pats fans are making the same argument for Kraft that they were arguing against with Woody, they are so stupid
And Revis isn't still a Patriot because... Oh yea, they cut him. If Kraft honored his original contract Revis would still be in Boston and all this would matter even less then it already does. Both of these owners statements were tampering by rule. Both of their statements were quite innocent in intent and both tampering charges are gamesmanship and should be thrown out. The only really interesting thing in all of this is that both fan bases believe Roger has a hard on for the opposing team. Pats fans think he loves us because he once had a coffee in our building. Jets fans see the friendship between Kraft and Godell and yell collusion (full disclosure i am 100% one of those fans). It will be really interesting how this all goes down in the end. If one team gets off easy and the other gets slammed Godell's perceived bias becomes fact. If he takes it light on both teams he risks looking soft (he should take it light because both these charges are ridiculous). If he comes down hard he risks pissing off both fan bases and owners in a time when he has few allies. This could get very interesting.
