No, I think Welker has been in Denver for 2 years already. Revis will probably count for them next year, but it is kind of a joke because they had a player option on him and opted not to exercise it. For all intents and purposes that is the same as cutting a guy for cap reasons.
You're right on Welker so I don't know who they lost that might have been worth a 3rd. Especially with all the signings they made which I thought was used to counter the losses.
They didn't cut him. They had an option on him and didn't exercise it, so he became a FA. I'm not sure how that is interpreted as far as the comp. picks go, but I'm guessing Kraft's buddy Raj will give them credit for Revis.
Over the Cap's 2015 projections were nearly 100% correct. Here are their 2016 projections based on activity today date: http://overthecap.com/2016-compensatory-draft-pick-update-3132015/ The Patriots are likely to receive a 3rd round pick and 3 6th's, although this may be reduced based on the 32 compensation pick maximum.
It's based on last year. Last year Revis was cut by Tampa bay and signed by New England. He was not a free agent. Therefore does not count. Losing talib surely helped new England's comp pick formula. 2015 comp picks are based on 2014 free agency period. It isn't based on the current offseason. It can't be due to the formula used and the fact that free agency is still underway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wasn't talking about this year's comp. picks that were just awarded. I was talking about next year, as to whether NE will get credit for "losing" Revis.
People don't understand how this works and are by default crying foul and conspiracy lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I quickly realized that after I replied. My bad. And yes they will get credit bc they declined his option making him a udfa. Which is no doubt part of why they wanted to drive the price up by creating a sense of interest even tho they dropped out days before he was signed . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No it isn't. Cutting a guy is voiding a contract. Not exercising an option is leveraging a built in clause causing the contract to foreseeably expire at the teams discretion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wasn't referring to you lol jeez. I did take the comment out of context I already said that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Obviously it is different. My point was in the context of the compensatory picks formula. My question was to whether NE will get credit for "losing" Revis.
Yes for declining an option they will. I could be mistaken but I dont believe declining an option is the same as a cut. Although I could be wrong . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This may be the first and likely last time I will openly agree with a pats fan on this board Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
