We had a shit ton of em last year and it didnt amount to anything. Quality over quantity. Plus we didnt have any FA leave that is worth even a 7th rounder. Not even Kyle Wilson
What are you talking about? We got 4 last year, tied for most. And this year we deserve 0. We lost virtually no free agents. And definitely none who got a big contract elsewhere.
only teams that have signed less free agents than they've gained the previous year get comp picks. how high those picks are is dependent on how high the respective free agents next set of contracts is. so for instance the jets got a 4 last year for Laron Landry's big deal in Indy. they got a 6 for Slauson I think. So team's like the packers who rarely make a free agent splash beyond retaining their own talent get a lot yearly. I think Idzik was trying to emulate this strategy here to an extent. and anyway we didn't lose NEARLY enough free agents last year to get some comp picks in the first place. keep in mind cut players don't count, so Sanchez, Holmes and Cro meant nothing.
mostly successful teams on this here list. Less needs and better talent across the board means less free agent splashes, more letting talent hit the market because you can afford to lose them, and thus more building through the draft.
I know we signed Giacomini but I am surprised we got nothing for Austin Howard, Howard got more money than Giacomini. Thought maybe that would give the Jets a low comp. pick. Maybe signing Vick foiled that.
and a spoiler alert! we sure as sugar aren't getting another comp pick next year either…. not after that binge.
Of course the Patriots get the highest compensatory pick. Ya know...cus they REALLY lost out on Free Agency last year signing Revis and hardly losing anyone of importance.
How did we get screwed? We got 4 last year and didn't have anything to warrant one this year For those who don't know It's determined by FA agents lost and gained. Cut players don't count. Net salary First year salary and onward is weighted. More heavily toward first year Then it's playing time in percentage on snaps So tell me again how we were screwed and why Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We had no chance to get any, probably a good idea to look up how they are awarded. It would save you the embarrassment...
I understand exactly how the formula for compensatory picks is supposed to work. I also remember that last year we got some because our former GM failed to replace a good deal of talent lost in the year before that. With that being said the Jets have historically gotten less compensatory pick that most if not all other teams since the system of awarding them was put into place. The New England Patriots and others are richly rewarded yet again and we don't get a lousy seventh round pick. It is no coincidence that they keep end up winning the division each year.
The jets by FORMULA got no picks. The pats by design aren't players in free agency yearly and get comp picks. Even the Revis signing was excellent for them in that it didn't count toward to formula since he was cut. Ur making it sound like a lottery. It's not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You just had to say [I ain't got a slightest fucking clue] instead of writing all these bullshit that you cannot even substantiate anyway.
