This. If we want to be competitive, and perhaps dominant one day, we need the atmosphere we had when he was around. Just like Seattle's 12th man, Green Bay's Lambeau fans, etc... We need our fans to create some sort of intimidation factor. Our trademark was the really loud J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS chant several times during every game. Since he left it has been half-assed. I am not saying only he is capable of being able to direct the crowd like that again, but he would have the most immediate success in doing so right now since he's a big part of that trademark.
He was a kid you friggen weirdo. Since when do we judge adults by what they liked as kids. When i was a kid i wanted to be robber when we played cops and robbers. Does that mean no employer should take me seriously because i wanted to be a criminal when i was 4. Jesus and dont even get me started on the load part of your comment. What the hell are you talking about? When did anyone mention sucking this guys hot juicy cock?...lol im done i could not resist but im serious about the first part.
Doesn't matter - plenty of true die hard Jet fans that have been w/ this team since day 1, that deserve that super-fan title - Fireman Ed doesn't deserve it. I don't understand why people care about this guy so much. lol yo man you need to relax about the hot juicy thing! Let's not get all descriptive here.
Some of you mooks need to take your clown shoes off. If you care so much about meaningless fanboy titles or waste your life hating someone you don't know but have a common interest with (being Jets fans), you're a complete douche and should be shunned like a leper. He's probably been a fan of this team longer than half of you losers. Go back to crying about A-roid and deflated balls. Knuckleheads with nothing to do.
Yeah I particularly liked explaining to my then 7 yo why the fuck Jets fans make noise when our O is on the field. The kid spent all week asking how to behave to help our team, understood why you yell when OTHER team has the ball, was really ready.... And then I have to explain why some helmeted jerkoff acts against everything I told him... Fun times... NOT!!
I'll live either way and all thoughts aside Jets games were cooler w him But he quit on us so that's that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was threatened or something... He wasn't a bad guy when he was doing his thing, he stopped and he shouldn't be brought back.. They should find a young guy to lead the chant
We don't need Ed for this. Gang Green is essentially the 12th, just with no notoriety. With all the bullshit we as Jets fans have suffered through and all the abuse we take from opposing fan bases and a commish who routinely treats our team like a whipping boy, how have we not solidified as a group with an us against the world attitude? Hell, I'm in Toronto and get chirped constantly when I wear my green, but on the odd time I run into one of us there is an immediate respect. I was at a game in buffalo a few years back and some drunk fuck through a beer at me. Before I could even react 3 Jets fans, who I eventually learned were from Long Island, were already in his face. No fan of this team can say they haven't suffered in some way through this rollercoaster of a franchise and NOT A SINGLE ONE of us should be held above another. It is time to embrace the "GANG" in gang green. We don't need Ed, we need to unite.
I think it would be awesome if he came back to lead the chant, because he really has the passion and gets people fired up. But...the thing I want most back is really just the chant itself. That was an awesome chant after big moments in games (whether it had effect on the players or not...it felt great as a fan and made games more enjoyable). The guy was assaulted...so I can understand his concern for his safety. It would be awesome though, if the Jets hosted a playoff game at Metlife and he came back for a playoff run.
Great post. I agree. We have the loyalty as Jets fans. If we can unite and get loud on a consistent level, we could potentially become a notorious fan base like the 12th man. I assume that will come with the team's success, so hopefully we have a good, promising season to jumpstart it. I like the idea of embracing that we're Gang Green. Man, this really could be a great and fun franchise to be a part of if successful when you really think about it.
