I guess the Jets are going to wait for camp cuts if they're going to sign a vet backup tackle. While I hope they can get one in the draft, but not re-signing Ijalana, they have no veteran depth at OT at the moment. As much as I'd like to sign another OG, or TE who can block, signing a veteran OT is probably more important. I'm not sure that Aboushi or Dozier could handle either OT position if Brick or Breno goes down with an injury. For that matter, I'm not certain Ijalana could, either, but at least he was someone who knew the old system and the Jets liked him enough to keep him around for a couple of years. It will be interesting to see what the new regime does in that regard.

@CoreyGriffinNBC: Why guarantees are important in NFL contracts:

    Gilchrist's 4-year, $22M actually 1 year, $3.5M
    Skrine's 4-year, $25M actually 2 years, $13M

    Denarius Moore anyone?

He's not the greatest WR, but he does have speed. He would be a nice over-the-top threat that would come in on a 1 year deal. I think he would compliment Marshall and Decker perfectly.

Love for us to bring Crabtree in.

Apparently he's got little to no market. Visiting Dolphins today

He wasn't the most productive wr in SF but he has talent I wonder why teams are staying away. Unless he thinks he worth more then what people are offering

He'd be a great option with Decker and Marshall on the roster. I don't know why so many teams are passing on him. That's a concern

thats tremendous value on both guys. especially skrine. 6.5M for a pretty solid starting CB.

when does he see the field though? those speed guys IMO dont really help much if they cant be every down or every 3rd down type guys.

moore doesnt help much if its marshall/decker/kerley/amaro on the field on third downs

Osi Umenyiora back to the New York market? Maybe. Source says the free-agent DE was in NJ today to meet with the ... Jets. Interesting.

What are your thoughts on him?

The Giants take Ellis we take Osi.

    Sounds fair.

He wouldn't need to be on the field on 3rd downs. He is your deep threat. Not all receivers -- especially ones available now in FA -- are going to be complete players. It's apparent that the WR core lacks deep speed. Maybe the Jets address it in the early rounds of the draft (Dorsett from Miami or someone similar) but I think Moore would be a nice complimentary piece to the group.

There are rumblings that the Chargers really like Mariota, and that Rivers isn't keen on signing an extension because he doesn't want to play in Los Angeles (he has 1 year left on his deal).

My question is: If Mariota is there at #6, would you guys move our 1st round pick for Philip Rivers?

A straight #6 for Rivers trade? Yep, as long as they sign him to a new 5 year contract upon the trade. He's 33, so he probably will be good for another 4-5 years. With a very good QB and an excellent defense, the Jets would be a serious threat to win the superbowl.

All we can do is hope that Mariota will be there at #6. That way the Jets can just draft him themselves or field several trade offers.

In a heart beat. But we'd have to offer more than the #6 pick for a Pro Bowl Caliber QB

They said we were interested in Hilliard. Could be a good pick up. May even start after Camp.
