Rookie safeties taking bad angles is a part of adjusting to the faster game speed, experience and film study can fix those things. If he is smart and wants to be great he will be parked right next to revis during film study. I am not convinced pryor can't be a good f.s. yet
Its absolutely correctable but I still believe his skill set is much more valuable at SS. If he does certain things as a SS better than what the FS position would ask him to do, then you are only taking away his potential and what he does best by putting him at FS. I don't see that happening. Odds are he will be our SS this year.
This is where we will disagree. I see him being the fs while gilcrest (sp) plays the s.s. where he will man up on t.e.s and slot wrs. Good news is with revis and cro pryor won't be as exposed if he is single high. Should give him a little more leeway. Strong safeties are easier to find, if you have a guy with the athletic ability to play free, its worth the lumps to cultivate that ability. Pryor has it, lets hope bowles knows how to make the most of it
It would be nice to see the media take 2 seconds off QB questions to ask Bowles what spot he thinks Pryor will play. will it be interchangeable, what does he like about his film, etc. because we'll disagree till the cows come home, but TB is the expert.
Gilchrist is a hybrid player and seeing as we're giving him 5.5 mil a year Bowles must feel he can utilize his talents...he can play in the box, line up in the slot, and hopefully play some adequate free safety
agreed. strong safety's are a dime a dozen. Pryor was drafted to play FS, the position he played in college. he wasn't playing out of position....he was just full of rookie mistakes. he'll get another chance. hopefully he's up for it.
He did not play a lot of center field or man coverage in college. Actually he was rarely asked to do that. He does not have the tools to be a good FS, he is not a pure athlete. He has some range but I think Gilchrist will be the better of the two in that department. Everything that you look for in a dominate SS, Pryor has it. It would be foolish to not use him in that role. A great SS is actually hard to find, they are not a dime a dozen. I don't understand that statement at all. How many Kam Chancellors are there in the NFL? Pryor has that same type of skill set that KC possess. Why would we not use him in that role??? They are similar players. Again. We will see.
Ian RapoportHitelesített felhasználó@RapSheet Catching up on something from last week: The #Jets deal with new S Marcus Gilchrist is 4-years, $22M with $10M guaranteed, source said.
A lit much for him, honestly. I'm worried that Mac will be the opposite of Idzik in regards to how he values players. That being said, I'm happy with the signing. I just think we have to be careful with our cap space going forward; hopefully our new shiny secondary is worth the cost.
overpaid considering it's more than what Rahim Moore got. He's not better than Moore, but i think he's more versatile. Guess we got desperate for him once Washington came in the picture and gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. Still in all it's a good signing though! Excited.
I'm so fucking sick of hearing about Rahim Moore! If Moore is so fucking good then why didnt his former secondary coach want him in Chicago? If Moore is so fucking good then why didn't his former D coordinator want him in Oakland? If Moore is so fucking good then why did he sign a desperation contract of such low value in Houston? Fuck outta here with "But Rahim Moore is SOOO good" The league doesnt value your opinion.
