I agree we were lacking in the secondary but I always saw a lack of consistent pass rush. Give the QB enough time and he'll pick you apart. Granted, I do think this secondary is as close as you can get to not needing much of a pass rush. Just not the way I would have gone about it!
We were tied for sixth in the league in sacks...without a secondary. I'm not sure that pressuring the QB is an issue.
Fair point. Sacks only tell part of the story I feel. Watching the games, I felt like the pressure was very inconsistent, but that stat definitely surprises me regardless.
I think Rex's blitzes had a negative effect: a lot of the time he blitzed DBs and left guys like Coples, Pace, and Richardson in coverage. So, the ball comes out quick and, surprise, there is limited pressure and limited coverage.
