@Connor_J_Hughes: With this being Colon’s 10th season in the NFL, veteran minimum would be about $970k. #NYJ
Ugh.. He's Been terrible past 2 years. I was hoping they spent more money o line, but I guess they got to slow down now. Hopefully he's healthy and can play better than he has.
I understand this move completely. Great lockerroom presence and serviceable depth on the OLine. Hopefully, he won't start...
Is there any way we can pre-pay for Willie's personal fouls and holding penalties? Maybe we can get a volume discount. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm not sure the Jets really understand the complexities of the NFL at this point. We've given a lot of late prime guys a chance to show us they're not done and mostly they've been done. This isn't a Woody Johnson thing by the way. Parcells and previous administrations did it more often than you'd like as well. The Jets are like a herd animal that gets constantly driven by the predators in the competition.
The Jets do this because they suck at drafting. Hopefully that changes with Bradway having gotten the boot.
I'm not at all surprised by this signing. Colon has been very solid in pass pro these past 2 season, is a very good locker room presence, and doesn't cost much at all. He's been our best OG for the past 2 seasons as well, which granted isn't saying too much. if the young guys are worth anything, they'll have to earn it. the offseason move for me was Boling, once we lost out on Iupati and Franklin. i'm really not a fan of Carpenter, and was hoping we'd upgrade the line more. considering Carpenter was the only signing, bringing Colon back makes sense for additional depth. ....maybe the draft..
he might not even make the team really. its a nothing signing, but if he starts it means something has gone wrong with the younger guards.
turnstile? If I recall right Colon's a decent guard when it comes to actually blocking, run or pass, but he's a penalty magnet and on the older injury prone side.
Seems like they don't think much of anything he did as all there doing is the complete opposite of what he did and would do. Seems like that must be there game plan.... What would idzik do? Perfect, let's do the complete opposite. Lol
Just thinking of all the jailbreaks up the middle last season... Mangold doing his best to block 3 defenders. The guards were awful.
Uhhh this is a non-guaranteed vet minimum contract for a body to go through training camp and pre-season. My guess is he is cut before game 1 of the regular season so his full salary is not guaranteed and then they bring him back after week 1 or later depending upon how the draft, camp, pre-season and injuries pan out. Not sure how you view this as evidence of a systemic problem with the Jets bringing in over-the-hill vets. I generally like your analysis but you have been completely off-the-wall crazy the past few days with some of your posts.
wasn't on Colon's side.. he's let up all of 2 sacks his entire tenure on the Jets. has been solid in pass pro. Winters and Breno really sucked tho...maybe that's what you are thinking.
