Ryan Fitzpatrick is literally an average NFL quarterback. His QBR's over the last couple seasons (meaured from 0-100, 50 is average) are 48, 50, 44, 52 and 55. The thing is, the Jets haven't seen an average quarterback in a while now; none has posted a QBR above 36 (!!!) since Sanchez put up a 49 in 2010. I believe this roster is set to compete for the playoffs, I just wonder if a hold-the-fort type guy like Fitz can get the job done.
I never said take Smith 6 overall. I said, (hobbes typing SLOWLY now) Trade the 6. Take Smith in the second round. Clear enough?
Pinpoint accurate on this. The Jets have had such a shit show under center for so many consecutive years, an average QB might seem like a Pro Bowler. Fitzpatrick is a smart dude, hopefully O'Brien instilled some more ball discipline on him.
That's interesting. You can't be more average than that. I mentioned earlier, in 2011 with Chan at the helm and Fitzy at QB the whole season, the Bills were between 13th and 17th in just about every major offensive statistical category. This is a clear case of "Been down so long, it looks like up to me" for us Jets fans.
It's just the most convenient metric. He's average by any measure you want to use; completion %, TD-INT ratio, Yards/Attempt. It was just the stat that was clearest to show the point I was making.
Nobody even knows what the formula for that QBR stat is, I'm not sure why anybody ever quotes it. Isn't Charlie Batch the guy with the highest ever QBR? Doesn't that tell you something?
My guess would be that they are going BPA. He's good but not nearly as good at his job as the other players available early
Moment of weakness. Hobbes was clearly PUI. (Posting under the influence) I love Smith as a player, but there is no one I love at 6. Smith would be a boon to the WR corps at the second rd....(And I've said that a dozen times) (It's also pretty creepy you pulled up that one post like it was on speed dial.) But...let me clarify. Smith is what this team should draft IN THE 2ND , since we have Gailey, Kerley and Amaro. But we should trade out of 6.
I'll repost myself. "It's just the most convenient metric. He's average by any measure you want to use; completion %, TD-INT ratio, Yards/Attempt. It was just the stat that was clearest to show the point I was making."
All you Geno haters go find a new team Fitz is the backup not a starter...unless Geno shits the bed...again
