He gave everyone parting gifts... mo Lewis , marvin jones, cox.. He did some great things for the jets, he did some fuck you things when he was out the door.
he turned the franchise around b/c he was a great coach, he was a mediocre GM type and really hurt our future SB chances.
See I go back before parcells, so I give him a pass on allot cause he did turn the franchise around. But like you said he did some dopey things as a gm.
Yeah your right it wasn't just the Vinny deal, that's the one that sticks out biggest in my mind, but the Curtis deal hurt and some of the other contracts for LBs. I think it was just that BP was terrible GM even though he never put himself in (gm)position to take the blame even though he was the guy to blame He hid from the GM job even though he was doing it, what a jerk, he didn't want to take the blame for buying the groceries even though he complained when he couldn't do it. Egomaniacal ahole all day long
Holy shit! I got it!! Building that POS hollowed out 1970s outdoor air conditioning unit for $1.8B and splitting it with the Giants. If that boring mausoleum was the winning design bid, how absolutely shitty were the designs that lost. The winning bidders were probably laughing their asses off when the were awarded the project. Greatest city in the world and I've taken better looking dumps than MetLife. _
we had talent here, he's not a dummy. he knew he could turn us around quickly. it's why he didn't commit to Peyton, back then rookie QBs didn't light it up. it took a few years and he didn't have time to wait. what's great is that he tried to take credit for the 4 1st rd picks in 2000 when leading up to the draft he put all the pressure on Al Groh saying Groh had total control.
that Stadium is just the worst. It has to be neutral w/ 2 teams but they could have made a better looking stadium than a tin can. yep, we started to suck after we got rid of him.
so you think Terry Bradway, our GM at the time, was busy writing scripts for the cartoon? You do realize there are football and non football sides to the Jets, right? they were marketing to kids, kids become adults, adults who will spend money. It was a brilliant idea. we just have a lousy fanbase that wouldn't respond to it despite it winning many awards.
Sanchez extension. At the time, he was the worst starting QB in football. There was literally no other team that would be willing to pay him to come play for them as a starter. He had no leverage what-so-ever to ask for more money. A huge portion of the fanbase was already willing to let him go. Arguably the best QB in the history of professional football was on the market. You have a win-now team. And our idiot GM gives the guy (Sanchez) enough money to cripple the franchise for three years. Mind-bogglingly stupid.
Trading up ahead of NEP for Gholston after they brought him in for a workout. They subsequently traded down and took Mayo..
How about trading away Keyshawn... We did get Abe out of that, but also the stone handed Sasquatch...
Jets didn't trade up for Ghost. They traded up for Dslob. Obviously, both failed hard. Doug Jolley, or Neil O'donnell hard. They also let the homegrown talents walk [Randy Thomas, Kareem McKenzie, Laveraneus Coles]
