the Verner deal was an absolute steal for the Bucs, as was the Davis deal for the Colts.... not to mention nabbing Revis back for nothing would have been a total coup.. the options at CB last offseason were amazing, and there was a lot of value to be had. that's where Idzik lost me..........and probably his job. all that said, we have to move forward. If we land Revis and Skrine, even if overpaid, it will be good for this defense. will afford the big dogs up front more time to do their thing.
I'm fine with revis and milliner on the outside and skrine (in the slot)….im annoyed skrine is making so much
If we can get Revis, Browner or Culliver (not sold on Cro coming back) and go with R/B/C, Milliner and Skrine with McDougle and maybe another mid-to-late pick this year I think that is a massive upgrade into one of our biggest areas of need.
Considering the number of penalties he acquired, the real question, in my opinion is about what kind of discipline Bowles and the defensive staff are going to instill on this team moving forward. Are we the same ol' Jets in 2015 or are we a new look "tight and prepaired" Jets team.
Certainly that's a concern and it will be one of the ways we can get an early take on how good a job Bowles is doing. Not only does Bowles come from a defensive coaching background, he played safety for almost a decade and went to a Superbowl, so he should be in a position to coach Skrine up. Let's hope he does now that the ink is dry on Skrine's contract.
Sure didn't see this coming. The guy had a lot of penalties last year so I don't see this as a positive signing. They are paying him good money but we are getting Kyle Wilson 2.0. This is a head shaker. Maccagnan needs to step up his game, first Carpenter and now this guy.
This statement is getting old. Really wish people would take the time to read up on Skrine before comparing him to a guy that probably won't be in the NFL next year.
"They are paying him good money but we are getting Kyle Wilson 2.0." GTFOH Skrine had 4 INTs last year. That's about 3 season's worth for Wilson
Couldn't disagree more: not sitting on cash and has potentially addressed most of the holes before FA actually begins?! What's not to like? Oh, right, he's a Jets GM, so the haters gon' hate!!
My friend who is big Browns fan, said Skrine is a very good player. Better suited to cover the slot, instead of an outside receiver.
From what I've seen/heard about Skrine is he's a tough, fiery corner who has good ball skills, plays the ball very well. He commits a little too many penalties. Solid, sound tackler. Time will tell but looks like a good signing.
well we now have Revis, Skrine, Milliner, McDougle, and Willams too. i think Williams is a dark horse to potentially overtake Milliner in time (or with opportunity due to Milliner's achilles).. I'm good with that. well done..
