They are dropping like flies out here! Would rather retire then be a Jets QB? Statement from Jake Locker: "I am retiring from football after much reflection and discussion with my family. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of playing in the NFL and for the lifelong relationships I developed because of that experience. Football has always played a pivotal role in my life and I love the game, but I no longer have the burning desire necessary to play the game for a living; to continue to do so would be unfair to the next organization with whom I would eventually sign. I realize this decision is surprising to many, but I know in my heart that it is the right decision and I look forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other interests.”
Can't play in the NFL if you are made of glass and your team doesn't invest in protecting you. Good luck Jake
after getting one's bell rung too many times, and seeing all the older players struggling to walk and think, it's a wise decision.
I'm getting this sinking feeling that our 2015 Qb situation is gonna look a lot like our 2014 Qb situation.
I completely agree, I posted it in another thread, probably should have worded it better. Locker retiring is a real problem
I respect a guy who chooses happiness over sheer dollars, it says a lot about his personality and integrity. That said, I don't think I have enough integrity to turn down a couple million dollars just because I wouldn't enjoy the job.
We may be drafting our QBOTF in 2016 and enduring Geno III for now. Gives us time to piece together a more solid, stable OLine to protect our investment.
