Powell didn't get nearly enough carries last season. Remember watching the Green Bay game where Chris Johnson sucked so hard, couldn't get to the edge at all. ...but every time Powell got the ball in that game he would bang out big gains. MM was an idiot with last years offense.
Ahh, sorry do I know you? Before the Jets took Chris Johnson Powell had much better stats than Vereen. The Pats thought so highly of Vereen that they put guys like Ridley, Jonas Grey, L Blount ahead of him and they let him walk. He's not the second coming.

meh?… I mean yeah he's the BETTER receiving back but not by a wide margin. Vereen would've been nice, but powell does fine. not saying the latter is better the former, just that we aren't missing that much by going this direction.

Powell is a below average back with no speed whatsoever. He's a decent backup RB and maybe an okay 3rd down back but he is nowhere near the weapon that Vereen is in the passing game.
