Fitzpatrick didn't beat out Locker in TEN and only got action due to Locker getting hurt and only started out of necessity in Houston because Mallett got acquired early September and Savage clearly wasn't ready.... He may have the head start in Gailey's offense but Geno has more familiarity with guys like Amaro and Decker and Kerley so what does that even mean? I am okay with a Fitzpatrick signing, I just don't think this guy is going to be the solution to what Geno's problems were: Ill-timed interceptions because he had games like vs the Giants just this past season that broke the Texans back. He got ran out of town in Buffalo because of those INTs.
This has nothing to do with comparing him to Geno, it is just setting up people's hopes up. Fitzpatrick is 5th all time in Bills career INTs for a reason, he got ran out of town after signing that contract when he could not keep his play up under Gailey.
Rotoworld just posted that Hoyer is meeting with the Jets tonight. The Texans do not have him locked up yet.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5463/brian-hoyer A reminder that all of the reports coming from this tampering period have to be taken with some caution Fitzpatrick has shown to be better in the NFL than Hoyer, but Hoyer is younger and potentially still has upside... I'd be okay with either
I don't get this at all. If I am forced to choose between Fitz and Hoyer, I am taking Fitz all the way. Fitz is a Harvard boy vet who knows Gailey's system and would be the superior guy to have in the QB room. Let Houston have Hoyer. Then sign Fitz when they cut him. Hoyer has zero upside.
And while atrocious like that, he's STILL better than GeNO. And you are riding GeNO's dick. 'Nuff said. Go away.
Agreed. Fitz is familiar with gaileys system so he would have an advantage. Fitz had an amazing year in buffalo with gailey. Fitz is the better option.
Thats not what I said. I said I hope we can draft Mariota. If not, I'd rather not sign someone like Hoyer or Fitzpatrick.
You guys are so hilarious. Add Fitzpatrick to the long list of players Jets fans have flopped opinions on once he may join the team. 5 years ago you guys made fun of him so bad in Gailey's system and now all of a sudden you want him and think he's a viable starting QB. If I had time and actually gave a shit, I'd go back to some of those Sanchez/Fitzpatrick debates and pull out some gems from a few of you folks.
Fair enough, but has his skill set changed? Look at some of the things people in this thread have said about him.
About what?the weather?isis? Genos favorite scene from Gone Girl?I know its not about a contract we don't sign free agents on the NY Jets
Is this supposed to be some kind of joke? The irony in this post is thicker than Marrone's bank account after he "opted out" of town to the tune of a free 3 M. You want to talk about bashing a guy when he's on another team and then suddenly loving him when he's one of yours? Look no further than the fat coach in your avatar. You are apparently happy that your team hired a head coach we just fired, a guy who just went 4-12. I never made fun of Fitz in Buffalo. In fact even then I liked what Gailey was doing offensively. I don't think Fitz is anything more than an above average backup now either, so I have no idea who you are referring to.
I agree that he's not the long-term answer. He may not even be the short-term answer, but at this point, he's about as good as it gets. I remember Fitzpatrick's implosions. At the very least, he should be able to help Geno and the rest of the offense learn Gailey's offense, and if we're fortunate enough to get Mariota or maybe Petty, I think he will be a good mentor for them.
Knock it off, I am a Jet fan before Geno fan. I want what is best for the team and I don't think Fitzpatrick accomplishes that as opening day starter. If we sign him to a fair deal and tell him to try and win the job, then fine. I just have seen Fitzpatrick enough to think Geno would do better.
