Powell on twitter just retweeted a Randall Cobb tweet that reads "Rule #1: Don't believe everything you hear in the media."

Losing Powell isn't a big deal at all. He could be replaced by signing Vereen/Spiller or drafting a rookie.

He's no star but a solid football player who has shown improvement each year. Under used and under appreciated. I hope they retain him on the team

I would to somehow add a shifty "speed" back..... but hopefully comes from the draft

Free agency didn't actually start yet and a lot of people are acting like every free agent is gone.

They did just trade for Brandon Marshall... Did everyone forget already?

Personal opinion...it would not be in our best interests to underestimate Bilal Powell's value to this team. He is an incredibly simple luxury to have in the event of an injury. We can essentially run our offense with no loss at the RB position. A VERY rare thing to have indeed.

If you think this team is winning games running the offense through Bilal Powell as the primary ball carrier, I don't know what to tell you.

Powell's a good RB, a good football player. What I like about him more than anything is he's very good at Pass Protection. Other than him we got nobody. Maybe the FB Bohanon, maybe. But you want your HB to be able to for deception reasons. Powell can run the whole O on a limited basis too. Ideal for a backup and depth. He does everything.
Nothing worse than watching a Back who sucks at pass protection.

All of these were the points I was trying to make but you said them better.

Powell and Jets agree to terms, excellent news. Expect to see some of the dumber people here trashing this move

I'm not going to trash this, just wish we could get some upgrades at key positions.

Like Powell alot. Another sign the new management values existing players.

Actually, RB is probably the last position on the team that needed addressing. If we can get C.J., as many reports speculate, we will be even BETTER than last year. And considering we may get stuck with Geno Smith starting again we will NEED a top 5 running attack again. ;)

I totally agree, once the FA period actually starts then the FO will be able to try to live up to their promises about free agency
