Highest paid defensive player is important to him...while I don't think any defensive player is worth 15 mill plus, I think Revis is more impactful than suh. So his agents has a legit argument for that kind of money.
Gore is going to the Eagles too which doesn't bother me as long as we announce Spiller or somebody is coming here. Some teams are being very aggresive and not waiting for FA to start, where are we in this?
Gore was never a viable option here. He's a vet who wants to win ASAP and get carries. He wouldnt win ASAP here and the split between he and Ivory would not be down the middle. I doubt if we ever even contacted him, or vice versa. The teams being aggressive so far are overpaying badly. It sounds weird to say this, but of all the teams that have made moves before the actual start of the league year, we are the only ones to get fair value.
We already made a trade for a #1 wr... We are connected to revis spiller or vereen. Just bc things haven't leaked don't mean we are idziking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't want Revis at even 12 million a year. He is way to old in football terms to be getting that much money. We will regret it, I'm getting a little nervous that we are about to revert back to being in cap hell, which would be incredibly stupid considering how much it took to get out of that hell. I don't want to see this team go back to that, in terms of what our overall roster is made up of, in conjunction to how much money we have invested into that roster. We have to many damn holes to be paying 15mill to a CB who has already lost a step in his game, he's not getting in younger, and he will hurt the overall roster considering we could get someone much cheaper and use the remainder towards another need for this team. It would be a bad move IMO.
It's not overpaying if everyone has more $$$ because of the salary cap. We all just need to adjust expectations. If you think someone is worth something, add $2-3mm more. We aren't the only ones with salary cap space.
I definitely don't disagree. Are you kidding me? If Maxwell got 10 million plus, I would gladly give Revis 12 mil per. He's a FAR superior corner in every way shape or form.
We are totally gonna "Idzik" Mike Maccagnan has come out and said that he also believes in the Idzik way of building through the draft. He doesn't want to spend big in Free Agency. To appease fans, he said they will be "Active" by signing low end players. But really....his definition of "Active" is being Idzik-like. Idzik also thought he was "Active". Watch. They will swing and miss with Revis and then have no where to go.
Calm the hell down...Free agency hasn't even started yet. We have Cro still out there and Revis homecoming could happen
Revis has a good 4 years left in him because he relies on technique .....12 mil for revis would be great considering Maxwell jist got a little over 10
I agree, Revis is a physical corner. He is more of a CB that holds his receiver at the line...Unlike Cro who is all speed and athleticism
I would be honestly really happy if we "swing and miss" on Revis and, in the process, help him earn more money from the Pats. Then we get to potentially sign McCourty, Cro, a good OG, a good OLB and actually have some depth before the draft. Simply "winning" Revis by overpaying him is way worse than being Idzik in your scenario.
Cro's best days are behind him. Revis has two more left. Revis did look good in green. Can we recapture that magic?
are you remotely considering in your comment that FREE AGENCY has not started yet? Lets just not be retards and overpay for a CB, or worst like Miami for a run stuffer in a passing league just to appease a few.
Eagles CB Byron Maxwell's new six-year contract is worth $63 million with $25 million guaranteed. Although Maxwell hasn't technically signed on the dotted line yet, the sides have formally agreed to terms. Maxwell will put pen to paper on Tuesday. Maxwell is a big, physical press corner who will likely play his natural right cornerback position in Philadelphia. They're targeting Tramon Williams to play left corner. Brandon Boykin will return as the slot corner. Per profootballtalk.com
