I don't know if he had a good relationship with him or not but the fact that he was a coach on the team for two years I am sure he had enough exposure to Marshall at practice and on the sidelines to know what he is like and he obviously does not see it as a problem.

I definitely saw this mentioned in at least one article online, I will try to find it now...
I remember the guys they mentioned on the Jets staff who liked Marshall, and had prior dealings with him, were Bowles and Rex Hogan (in the scouting dept.)

I think they mentioned it on NFL Live on ESPN as well.

    Here's one link:
"Jets first-year head coach Todd Bowles was a key voice in making the trade. He was a member of the Dolphins' coaching staff in 2010 and 2011, Marshall's two-year run with the team. The Jets' new director of college scouting, Rex Hogan, was a longtime Bears scout, so he, too, has familiarity with Marshall. His position coach in Miami, Karl Dorrell, is now the Jets' receivers coach."

He was also the HC for three games. I'm sure there was enough exposure for him to at least get a feeling one way of the other.

Funny how nobody on this board makes the same arguments about Revis. He has been in the league one less season and if he doesn't end up on the Pats, he will be on his fourth team in four - count em - four seasons. I thought "great" players are not treated like that??????? In fact, the Bucs just cut him. No trade. There is so much that goes into why players move in the NFL, including money and where a team is at the time of the transaction.

As for me, I'm ok with Marshall, but want no part of Revis and his bloated contract and selfish attitude again. So tell me, why is Revis so highly regarded even though he is being passed around the NFL and this trade was a bad move????

He may be better than Geno. It would be hard to not be better than Geno at this point, but his ceiling/potential may not be as high. I don't know about that. It will be interesting to see what our FO does.

Love this trade, cheap cap hit for a damn good receiver who's game is predicated on bullying you at the line high pointing the ball meaning age won't have as big a factor on him as others. Had a bit of a down year last season but he was injured and there were other options like Bennett/Jeffrey/Forte that took away touches. I love this dudes game he is physical as shit I remember the great battles he and Revis had.

It's called free agency. This is not the NFL of the early 90's, when teams could keep all of their stars, and the Cowboys built a dynasty by re-signing all their young stars, and players would sometimes spend their whole careers on one team.

It's a different league now. Players change teams frequently, when rookie contracts expire they are exposed to free agency and teams have to either franchise them (and risk pissing them off), or use the RFA tag....these are limited. Free agency means most players now will switch teams at least several times in their careers, the great ones with long careers at least.

Anyone concerned that Marshall could be a locker room problem? Anyone wondering why Bears let Marshall go only for a 5th rounder?

His 27-2 was a fluke season. Remove that and he was 19-15, which isn't overly impressive.

He plays in a very low-risk system. I wouldn't trust him to win any games.

Yeah lets remove his one full season as a starter and then evaluate him. Why would anyone ever do that?

Your evaluation is so full of shit.

10 starts is an entire/full season now? When did the NFL shorten their schedule?

Maybe that ratio was a fluke. But you dont have that type of stretch in the NFL if you dont have skill. Even if he settled somewhere in the middle at 30 TD's and 17 picks a season that is still an insane upgrade.

Foles might not ever be elite. But we've seen non elite QB's win Superbowls recently.

Why cant he be as good as someone like Flacco? Every Jets fan should want a QB that "fluke-ish"

You know… I see plenty of people talking about how Marshall has been jettisoned by three different teams. Well if the patriots cut Revis… Anyone see where I'm going here? Yet everyone seems to want him back and give him a ton of money on top of it.

Go back and read my original posts, I expressed my hatred of his wife beating ways but I never said I was concerned about it. My biggest and only non field related concern about Marshall has to do with how he affects a locker room, specifically when things aren't going well.
