More money that I would have spent but one less hole to worry about when free agency starts. At least we didn't trade our best player for Kiko Alonso. Does anyone know our revised cap space available?
Thinking like that is how 60 million in cap space turns into 10 million real fast. Depending on the cap hit this is a bad move for a slow 2 down MLB. Nice to see us bring him back especially for next year but not for the 2 following.
I haven't seen it anywhere yet, but if you figure an even split, say -$7.5 million for Harris and net +$1 million from Marshall/Harvin difference = $48-49 million I think (assuming Harvin is released).
10 mil is still a lot. You sign good players and the cap goes down, that's how it works. This was a great signing. Josh Mauga just got a 3 year, 8 mill deal so it lools like the ILB price is going up.
Not the point.. And Josh Mauga is a younger every down player that deserves that cash. I don't mind the move for this year but next year we'll be looking back at this because he will be a possible cap casualty.
The Jets need to spend to bring them up to the Salary Cap floor. I don't mind this deal one bit. Though a bit long in the tooth, the Jets reward one of their own. In a dry market, I like the signing.
It's only a 2 year deal so it doesn't do too much damage to the cap. It's almost like the recent MLB contracts where you pay a little extra to keep the years down.
Don't necessarily like the deal, but it's only for two years, so it's not a crippling contract at all. Plus, I think Harris will still be productive for at least another two years. Plus, this means Bowles also values what David Harris brings to the team.
Cmon Falco, if Ozzie was our GM he would not have resigned Harris, the team needs to get younger, not older. I would understand the move if he were a hall of fame LB like Ray Lewis, but 32-33 is old for a man in that position. I'm not completely against it, but I see where mo is coming from. Another reason they had to resign him is, that the jets are down to 5 picks in the draft, after the trade for marshal and the trade for harvin last year. How they use those 5 picks in the draft is going to be very interesting.
I would be surprised. Why set yourself up for a cap hit. If the jets planned to cut him after 2015 they wouldn't have given him this deal. After 2016? That's another story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's the longest tenured player on defense. We would have been in bad shape without him. Sure it's a lot of money but I'm really happy we're keeping 52
I didn't want to lose another linebacker...Losing Vilma to the Saints still haunts me at times. I am happy we have Harris...Its a short deal which I like, the guranteed numbers are high but is that going to be the market for Linebackers? Aren't they in demand? And he is top of the crop?
This. Harris was the best mlb on the market. We'd of entered a bidding war with Miami Atlanta and buffalo and more. Someone would have paid a lot more than we just did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
