$15 mil fully guaranteed the next two years bothers me. We'll see how it is structured, but I would have rather let him walk.
He's an important leader on defense, calls the plays and is a leader. Paid more than I expected but not much sometimes you have to over pay to keep a key cog in your defense.
3-4 ILB talent doesn't look great in this year's draft, and he was the top FA at that position on the market, especially with other likely suitors. Jets need to hit the cap minimum and he's a long-term leader on the team. I'd have preferred to get him a bit cheaper, and ~7m a year is overpaying for him - but I'd argue it's not overpaying much, especially considering the FA market and draft outlook this year. I'd have been very happy to get him back at 6/year, but that wasn't going to happen. Supply/demand.
haha yeah thats entirely too much money for him. i see no real point to paying him that much money. he isnt terribly good and def not nearly worth that kind of money.
He's a huge liability in coverage. You don't pay someone who is a huge liability in ANY area that kind of money.
we have to spend a certain amount this offseason and the cap is going to continue to go up. Our cap is in incredible shape. Harris can still play, 2 years is a good amount of time.
he has always been a liability in coverage but he's still been a very good player and a very valuable member of our D.
WOW. thats…a lot more than I thought he would get. like twice as much. I guess its a combo of the jets REALLY not wanting to part with their MIKE and the market for Harris picking up. I mean we can afford it and all but… 15 million guaranteed? like 7 mil a year, hmm… happy he's back though.
Not in love with it but its good for 2 reasons One it keeps the QB of our defense here when losing him would've meant another hole. Two it keeps him from going to Buffalo where LB is now an issue for them.
