This is basically how I feel.....When the stars align for Marshall he is a great talent, just doesnt seem like a great fit for the current state of the JETS. I'm guessing several moves to follow
WR is certainly LESS of a draft need with this trade. Percy is a goner - saves us a boatload of cash, lowers the compensation to Seattle, trades one potential malcontent for another, and gives us a more complete WR. I can see us taking one of the pass rushers at 6 or trading out of that spot for additional picks, and taking a developmental WR in rounds 2-4 to compete with Shaq and Enunwa. If we trade down, it will be the first time we've done so in eons - I'll believe it when I see it.
I would like that... IF they're willing to keep him on the bench for the year (or most of it). This move tells me that wouldnt happen
Marshall is a top tier receiver with elite ball skills. This is the first time, probably since Keyshawn, where we have had a top tier player on the outside.
Agree, but quite frankly, his mental state was much better than half of last year Bear team. Plus, there are ties to him and Bowles, our new WR coach and our new personnel guru from Chicago. They know exactly what person they are getting.
What good is talent when it's not applied and there are off-field issues? I'm not saying he is definitely going to have them, but when you've already added a major piece at a position, you don't reach for anything but a sure thing. The mocks I've seen have him slipping to the 3rd round because of those off-field concerns.
True. I really hope this is the case because he's got top 10-15 WR ability when he's got his head on straight.
I like the move because Marshall is talented but I just wished we brought in someone a little younger. Marshall is a guy you bring in if you think he can get you over the hump, or you think you can win a championship.
I still hope the Jets target a WR in the first 3 rounds. Not a Jalen Saunders or Shaq Evans type. I want them to taregt a guy who was a proven commodity in college in terms of production and talent. I want them to get a Donte Moncrief type who drops into the 2nd or 3rd round but has top athleticism and produced in college. No more fuckin project WR's!!! Pretty sure they can find one in Rounds 2 or 3.
But Marshall isnt going to be here for 5 years. Might not even be here for 2. WR is a still a big issue for us in the longterm. We need a young, talented, dynamic guy. We arent getting a 26 year old Brandon Marshall here. As for GB, mocks Ive seen have him going early 2nd. But draft experts know that talent wise this guy is the most talented WR in a very talented draft. That says a lot to me and yes whoever drafts him is taking a hugeeeeeee risk. But if its late 1st , early 2nd its worth it to me.
I think it was strictly a swap of capital: Harvin's cap number and injury propensity for Marshall's lower number and better positional fit. Remember, we still have Kerley.
Wait till Mike Wilbon...A Bears fan, he will hate the move. Wtf is His or Hers? That show with those turds wearing glasses acting like they have personalities?
I think GB is not the second coming of MegaTron. Shit! So now, just because I said it, he will be. There will be other GBs, and we have other more prominent holes to fill and limited draft picks. Too much of a reach given the circumstances, IMO.
