Cobb is overrated ... Had Rogers chucking him the ball. Maclin is a good no.2 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yeah, Cobb is so overrated. If it weren't for Rodgers, he wouldn't have had all those yards after the catch and his amazing hands. Overrated as hell!!
idk if he's overrated but its a valid concern. Especially since this team already invested heavily in another WR that benefitted from a great QB last offseason.
I don't think there's a concern at all. I didn't think it either with Decker. When you watch him play, you can see the talent. He's got incredible hands and overall, is just an awesome wide receiver. Does his success have somewhat to do with Rodgers? Absolutely. But I don't think Cobb is a "product" of a good QB at all. I think he is a naturally talented wide receiver
didn't we hear the same stuff about Decker and he would have had a 1000 yard season if he didn't miss games read that wrong didn't realize your referred to Decker in your comment
I don't understand why you target a an up-market wideout with the current outstanding needs at QB, OL, and DB. Makes zero sense to me.
Because we have a need for a receiver and have $55 million in cap space. You don't not get a receiver because we have needs at other positions. You go into the offseason trying to improve your team and talent if that's signing Cobb or Maclin at the right price you do it. Better receivers it takes a little more pressure o the o line and qb. QB's don't grow on trees. You don't have to wait to get a franchise qb to start getting receivers.
Because he's a 26 year old receiver who plays at a high level and is a legitimate #1 WR in this league. The more you put around your young QB (with it be Geno or someone we draft/sign) the more chance you give him for success. Think about it: Maclin Decker Harvin Kerley Amaro Ivory Spiller If you can walk out of this offseason with those guys at your skill positions, it's going to be hard for any QB to fuck that up. And if they do? You know he's not your guy.
I'm not going to argue with having more weapons. I just wouldn't want to forgo mending the OLine or CB situation to get another weapon. I think the former should take priority.
Hmmmm...Could a lack of receiving talent have an adverse effect on a QB's performance?? Could having better receivers make the QB look better? I wonder...
not what i am saying. in an ideal world i would like better players at every position. i am just stating my preference on priority in addressing positions.
And I'm saying the Jets have been playing at a deficiency at WR for the last four years and it's had an effect on the offense. It's a significant need that demands being addressed if you want a dynamic offense. Plugging a draft pick QB into an offense without playmakers and an offensive line gets you...the same thing you have now. What the Jets need most on offense: blockers and weapons.
We have $55 million in cap space. Signing a receiver wouldn't stop us from getting a corner and or offensive lineman
He's a clutch, dynamic playmaking WR in his prime. He's a proven commodity. He is also a threat to take it the distance as a punt returner. (I can't remember the last time we had a decent punt returner, and cringe every time I watch Julian Edelman ripping off 15 to 20+ yard returns.) There are no free agent QB's worth a lick on the open market. Sancho is arguably the #1 available. If we cut Harvin, I think we can sign Cobb and still have $45+ M to spend.
Because we also have an outstanding need at WR. And the FA market this year lends to WR, CB, and OG. Happens to be many of our needs. To say WR isn't an outstanding need makes no sense.
If we cut Harvin we'll have 65 million in space, so really we'd still have 55mil to spend. I see absolutely no reason not to give the "Harvin money" to Cobb +1-2 mil. The guy is damn good. Although it appears the Jets are going to try and take that money and spend it on Revis.
