Uggh... http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6594/bilal-powell No GM on earth would prefer Powell to Spiller.
Murray is coming off of a 500 touch season (including playoffs) last year. History has shown guys who get that many touches pretty much always break down the following year. The concern should be even higher for Murray when you consider his injury history.
He has 2-3 elite seasons left, maybe 4-5. He could carry this franchise to its first Super Bowl in close to 50 years. Change our entire identity in the process. Eventually the trend will shift back to running attack. We should get ahead of the curve now. Own that style of football with PA pass.
No offense but this a terribly shortsighted view. If we signed A.J. we should still look at wr with the 6.
Yeah and they have to think about getting Andrew Luck a contract extension. He is at around 5mio a year now, and will likely be 1-2 of the top paid QB's in his first shot of Free Agency. So 20 million is in the cards for them. That will eat a fair bit into their cap number, ya think?
http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/playerstats?playerId=14005 937total carries, no major injuries. Say a decent shot of 1000+ carries left in the tank. Should be good for 3-4 seasons spelling ivory or ivory spelling murray, nice 1-2 punch. Add in new guards and we have ourselves a potent offense again.
Cheaper option more than likely. As long as we find another back in the draft or so I would have no issue resigning Powell over Spiller. Powell is the perfect utility back.
I like Powell. He has been a good player for the Jets and I'd be happy that they resigned him. Rather than Spiller grab a RB in the draft.
No offense taken. My point was not to view 34 year old AJ as a cure to our WR problems, it's more that bringing in a veteran WR like Johnson gives us a bit more flexibility in the draft. We could still take one of the top 2 WRs and have him learn from Decker/AJ and come in on certain packages. Or we could bypass WR in round one if we felt one of the pass rushers was a superior talent. If the top two WRs are gone at 6, I wouldn't reach for Parker in that spot and would prefer the pass rusher. Of course, it all depends on our scouting and I don't want to presume that I know more than they do.
AJ would be a great addition, declining or not. But I think he's at a point in his career where he would be looking to go to a team who has an established QB. If the Jets want him, they'd probably have to overpay and I dont know if he's worth it at 33 years old
Definitely stick with drafting a RB this year. It's a very deep RB class, and we have far bigger needs in FA than RB. I really like Spiller, but he can't be relied upon to play 16 games. RB is the one position where guys typically don't get less injured as their careers move on. Knock on wood....But, I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop on Ivory as well (injury wise). That said, it's important to have someone ready to fill in that role. However, I believe it shouldn't be by way of FA. Crossing my fingers that they can land Tevin Coleman in the draft.
Not sure if anyone is watching NFL network right now with Browns vs. Titans... This just shows how good Locker can be, and how fragile he is. He was looking fantastic moving in the pocket, throwing the ball, escaping pressure, moving the ball and motivating his players. THEN he gets hit on a late hit to the face, and he's out of the game. I still remember the game in 2013 where we utterly demolished the Jets and threw like 3 TDs.....and then got demolished himself. Really kind of sad, the kid has some real potential to be the guy, it's just too bad his body won't let him be the player he could be.
How old are you ??? Murray is NOT a HOF runner .. Not close ... He benefited greatly from Dallas' line and blocking schemes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
