why? Cobb is Kerley on steroids. we, for some reason locked up Kerley. Maclin ( even being paid more) is a far better option and need than Cobb
This is not shocking at all... They didn't see him as a 12 million per year type of guy. Doesn't mean he's leaving Philly.
Don't expect the Jets to sign any WRs in FA or at least not any high profile ones........they will go hard after the secondary - multiple CBs and a S, an OLB or 2, and OL along with a stopgap QB. Skill players will be focus of the draft I think.....
He's not leaving Philly without a deal. Cobb over Maclin? No way. Cobb produced with the best QB in one of the best offenses in the NFL, he's had it no other way in his career. How do you know his production isn't due to being the slot WR in such a potent offense with the best signal caller in the NFL? Also: The Packers know what they are doing, if they don't think he's worth what he's asking then they are probably right. They think that Adams or Janis can easily fill Cobb's spot. Pass.

This is the right approach. I prefer they take a WR in one of the first three rounds. I don't want to see us overpaying for talent in the FA market. Decker is a good teammate, and he could be a really good influence on a young WR (like the troubled DGB). For once, with a new GM I am excited about the prospect of developing young talent like the great organizations do.
Part of me wants either him or Cobb at the high price they will come with.. but then again there are atleast 4 WR's that will go in the 1st round that could be just as good as these two guys at a much lesser price.
Maclin would be a sick pickup. But I don't see why he'd leave a good thing in Philly for our mess. We'd most likely have to drastically overpay.
Money - it's all that matters regardless of what the player says. We don't need to overpay him, just pay him a little bit more than Philly.
I think we'll stay away from another free agent receiver and focus on this in a pretty deep wide receiver class. We have our vet in Decker and a shifty slot receiver in Kerley. I think this regime is going to want a younger cheaper asset that can grow with a young quarterback rather than trying to tie $30 mill up in receivers.
Assuming Harvin does not come back we have 1 legit WR on the roster. This is not an either or situation between draft and FA, we would still need to draft a WR. Both Cobb & Maclin are young and big upgrades to anyone on our roster.
