Three Tampa beat writers said NO that's not true at all and he would play, tweeting back AT HIM. Schefter doubles down the next morning. A couple hours later when Mike Williams is literally suiting up in warm ups he tweets something to the effect of "despite the arrest, my sources tell me Mike Williams will play".. no shit he's ON THE FIELD. 2010 preseason - Schefter reports his sources tell him Buffalo multiple on-going discussions with Arizona for Matt Leinart. Buffalo vehemently denies it, Schefter releases a arrogant cryptic statement like "I did not report a trade was going to happen, sometimes teams have interest.. yada yada, some bullshit" 2013 - Schefter reports that Sam Bradford's MRI did not reveal any damage to the ACL. Jeff Fisher himself says something to the effect of "I was unaware that Adam Schefter was in the hospital room." Next morning they announce he tore his ACL and is done for the season. Nothing from Schefter. And then theres the countless ESPN articles we have seen in recent years where he contradicts himself within the actual article after a fancy headline. They have become all the same where he leaves himself an out: "Sources: Jets Interested in ________" Adam's sources tell him the Jets have strong interest in _____ but they also have concerns about ______ and with cap considerations might not sign ____. over and over all offseason. WELL NO SHIT Adam. If they sign the guy he's a genius, if they don't its okay because he said they had concerns right? And then theres the times where someone else reports it and he takes credit. That's done a lot with him and Glazer. He's not horrendous if he gets things wrong, which he does sometimes, and a lot of times he's right... He's horrendous because he is afraid to be wrong, because everything has to come from him, because of the cryptic, halfway in bullshit
He and mortenson share agents with some of the players/coaches/etc so they also help to put a lot of misinformation out there to affect the market in favor of their agents. As for the dez thing, this is a witch hunt. And Schefter is s doucher for looking for it since September if that's even true

I have no way in knowing, nor do I care, whether nor not you had an axe to grind regarding his deflategate comments. I would argue that those comments could be described as cryptic and playing both sides of the argument as well. From that perspective, I think you're right. A lot of times he tries to "break" stories just to get the credit of reporting it but throws enough of a cover in there to limit his exposure. To be fair, in his position he has a lot to lose. Credibility is everything in this game, so I don't fault him from trying to maximize the credit he receives while protecting his reputation. Schefter does report a lot of crap. He's bound to be wrong here and there. You have to take all reports with a little grain of salt, but I feel with him you are getting the real deal most of the time. I apologize for assuming you were just pissed about his comments last week. Jets fans/Patriot haters aren't too happy with Schefter at the moment so I didn't think it was that much of a leap.
