    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

It is hard to have a first read when Santonio Holmes was your #1 receiver.

Vick was brought in as pr cover to hide Idzik's intention to stick with Smith. There never was any threat. Or anything else.

I think Vick would have been the starter if Geno had a bad off-season. The problem was that he didn't really start having problems until the games started. It's easy to pick stuff up in the classroom. It's fairly easy to display it on the practice field. It's a whole other thing when you have a live defense you have to execute it against.

I wouldn't disagree with this since I share the notion that Smith falls apart not even so much in games as in games that count.

But all available info we have seen indicates there was no competition between Smith and Vick.

Geno has no future. The kid sucks. The ONLY reason he will remain a Jet this season is because the Jets do not have a clear cut solution to take his place and he'll still have an outside opportunity as a backup. Geno is a turnover machine far worse than Sanchez ever was. I hate Sanchez and I think most Jets fans would easily take him back rather than suffer through another f*cking day of Geno.

The ONLY reason is his salary is still on rookie level.

The fact were not paying him millions to retain his services is pretty much the only reason I can suck up another year with Geno as 'da man'.

Is that in a bad neighborhood or something? Well. Put it this way. I would rather be a janitor than a Hollywood actor.
At least I would earn my meager salary.

geno would make a good backup behind the right guy at the very least.

he's shown NFL caliber skills, but its a matter of consistency and maturity in all things that keep him from being starter quality. he's young enough that this could change but thats no reason for the jets to give him that chance…uncontested.

I would love to see him back up a top10 guy, he really needs to sit a while and learn. He simply isn't ready for primetime, though he earned his job last summer he also earned losing it with time, and he deserves whatever Bowles or Gailey's impression of him says he does.

The curse of this Franchise is that Geno had his best game in the LAST game. Leaves us an off season of further deluding
    ourselves.

Yeah, the last game, when the Jets' season is already well down the toilet in large thanks to you know who, and when the other team already has their bags packed for their favorite Carribean island, golf foursomes already chosen. BFD.

He also "showed flashes" during the 4-game stretch to close out his rookie year in '13.

The 2 teams (Raiders, Browns) Geno "had success" against had already mailed it in by mid-October. Against Carolina he was awful. And vs. Miami in the dumb finale where Idzik and Woodrow got emotional in the locker room he didn't exactly set the world on fire: he threw for 190 yards and 0 TDs.

Yes. True. But when we have Mariota, this will be a mute point! He said sarcastically.

Jets almost HAVE to stay with Geno. He's the only QB on the team with little else available in FA, and nothing in the draft that can replace him in 2015.

We have 2 years invested in him.
He did show some progress in 2014, cutting his ints in half.
After his Buffalo debacle and benching, he came back much better.
Geno was the 2nd highest rated QB over the last 5 games of the 2014 regular season (P. Manning).
Geno ended 2014 with barely enough to give a glimmer of hope.

2015 Geno will be learning a new offense, and that must be seen as a natural set back. I don't expect him to come out with guns blazing, but as the season progresses I expect him to get more comfortable. I expect him to end the 2015 season on a similar high note.

2016 will be interesting. Did Geno show anything in 2015? Did we draft a QB in 2015 who may be ready to compete? Is there a 2016 FA QB or a vet QB we could trade for?

2015 is almost set in stone.

2016 is when it will get interesting.
