I don't want him at Decker $$. With the odds very good they won't have a good QB this year I'd rather they spend their money wisely and fill other holes. Harvin is a luxury for a team that is an occasional play maker away from a deep playoff run. This isn't the 2015 Jets.
They already have Jordy Nelson under a big deal I forget what he is making a season but that's a lot of money to tie up in one position....They do have some cap room but i could see him atleast testing the market.Even if he does make it to free agency the Raiders are dumb enough to overpay anyone so our chances aren't that good
Luckily for us, we can shop around for a few days before we have to make a decision. harvin at his current deal as a worst case scenario is not the end of the world.
I get the love for harvin on paper...but the guy his whole career plays when he wants to play...his fake migraines in Minnesota to his convenient comeback in the Super Bowl. The guy just never plays. I love him here in theory but it says a lot when minn trades one of their 'best' players away to Seattle for a ton and then Seattle turns around and trades him for peanuts. Exactly. And what better way to create a market then saying our rivals that just won it all are interested. Hope the Jets aren't stupid here. Pats can barely afford their own players nevermind ours.
You make decisions on your players based on what's best for your roster. The new regime has a plan and they'll do whatever conforms to that plan.
offer harvin a new contract as our 2nd outside WR. 4 yr $25m with $12m guaranteed. Commit to Harvin on the outside and he'll come running. Hopefully he won't trip and fall while running to sign the contract.
We can really play it by ear with him. We can play around with other receivers in FA and if we bomb there, than Harvin is a decent contingency plan. We have to sign at least one receiver if we lose Harvin. We have to draft one as well. If we are going to roll with Geno or some other shitty QB, we cant make his receivers any worse than they were last year. Kerley should be our number 4 receiver going into next season, with Evans/Enunwa as our number 5/6.
I think teams with qbs like Rodgers aren't as panicked when receivers come up for free agency. If cobs is unreasonable they will just plug someone else in and take there chances. Must be nice. Lol
Yep. They had no problem letting Greg Jennings or James Jones go. Davante Adams showed promise in his rookie season. If they dont want to pay Cobb I wouldnt be surprised
leeetttss not put ourselves in a bad spot if we don't have to. worse comes to worse, we have a higher end offensive weapon on lock for 2015 after we failed to grab anybody good in free agency or if nobody wound up available. we have the cap room, we can take it. cutting him any time before st. patties day is ill advised, what we ultimately do with Harvin is gonna be 100% market driven.
How does New England have anything left in cap? Oh yeah.. Brady took another pay cut because Kraft and New England pay family members under the table. Goodell concurred over AFC Championship dinner, "That's a great idea."
he totally didn't take a pay cut too. brady's cap hit is actually a mil HIGHER, the media was just sooo ready to give him more credit than he deserves.
