Read the article I posted. It has nothing to do with his college production. It has to do with his physical attributes. Just in case you haven't noticed college production=doesn't always translate to NFL production.

It was a good article. I'd recommend everyone read it.

Showcased the positives and negatives of his game. It was a decent impartial look at player that is very tough to read.

The guy is question does not want to hear it. He's made that clear. He think Mariota is the next coming of Rodgers or Montana and won't listen to anything presenting the other side of the case. He wants to bully people on this forum who disagree with him.

Bully? You hadn't even posted the link when you decided to be a dick about my assessment of Mariota.

Be a dick and I'll treat you like a dick.

Had you posted that link and said something like "I think you may be a little off there fine sir" then maybe I would not have felt the need to call you out on your dickiness.

The Mariota talk on this board has soured, and it has gotten to the point where it's just mind numbing. You pretty much just presented the reason why.

This article was posted last week, it's a few pages back.

It's another opinion piece just like any other.

Didn't change my opinion the first time I read it but I guess because some blogger wrote it it must be gospel.

The comparisons to Sanchez are just wrong.

Fine. I have no desire to continue this argument. Can we place some type of wager when Mariota gets drafted?

I have read that article. I read it some time ago. I prefer to listen to Tony Dungy and Jim Mora, you know, people who have actually been involved with NFL teams, not people who haven't, such as Matt Waldman.

Physical attributes you say? MM is 6'4" 212 lbs and runs (supposedly) a 4.48 40. Sanchez is 6'2" 225 lbs and ran a 4.88 40 at the combine. Those are the only physical attributes readily available to me. I guess they're somewhat similar in terms of height and weight?? But Mariota is almost a half second faster than Nacho, so I'm not really sure what physical attributes you're referring to.

Still waiting on a valid claim that they are in any way similar, other than being within 2 inches and 10-15 lbs of each other.

That is fine, you have the right to disagree. I happened to think Matt Waldman has a very keen eye for NFL talent and I have become a fan of his over the past year. He does the work, unlike the guys on TV who just spout garbage after doing very little research (Kiper, McShay, etc)

I love how someone posts a scouting report supporting their view and the rest of us have to treat it with reverence even if it flies in the face of what you've seen with your own eyes.

Someone posted a scouting report the other day saying Mariota is possibly the greatest QB prospect ever.

Did I copy that and link that scouting report and whine because everyone didn't agree with it?

Of course not. I never even discussed it. It's an opinion just like the article in question that was already posted on the board last week. It's not new.

    And it's certainly not dispositive.

But hey, a blogger wrote it.

Btw, love the continued reference to college production not equaling NFL production and how not every great college player becomes a great pro.

But every once in a while a great college player actually DOES become a great pro.

I know it doesn't happen often, it's usually guys with shitty college production and who were bad college players that become great pros.

    That's how it works, right?

Do you want Mariota running a lot in the NFL? He's already shown his propensity for getting injured getting hit by players in the PAC 12. You are right, Tony Dungy and Jim Mora have fantastic credentials as coaches, but they are not scouts and they probably did not watch too much film outside of a highlight here and there. Also: The game has changed quite a bit since they were relevant. Just because someone isn't a "name brand" does not mean they do not have smart things to say. So don't buy into the shit you hear on TV. You think Dungy sat down and watched years of Mariota film? How exciting would it be on TV if Dungy came out and said "Mariota reminds me of ALEX SMITH?" Of course you are going to get sensationalism on TV. "He's the NEXT FAVRERODGERSMONTANA!!!!!"

Have you ever seen me quote Kiper or McShay as dispositive authorities on college prospects?

Then why do you keep intimating that?

So anyways: We are all reasonable adults here. So lets stop throwing shit at each other until we hear and see a bit more. Does that work?

Was not directed at you. That was a blanket statement from me saying that I think that Kiper and McShay don't do as much research as some of the "hungrier" scouts out there. They are more into making it entertaining for us=Their job is to generate revenue=get ratings.

I agree. I don't get that. You can't do that. Like you said just another opinion on a blog.

There's a long way to go in this process before the story is over... I see a 6'4" guy that's gonna go up to 225...and i'm not pigeon holing him based on the O they ran at Oregon.
Dude's a player, competitor, and athlete.
I hope we take him. At worst he'll be a better player than Kaepernick....and I can see him playing like Russell Wilson, that style, even if he doesn't turn out to be this "pure pocket passer"...yada yada....

Again, you are being very defensive. I am not really talking about you here. I have already made it clear that I am done with the personal insults.
