1800yds on the ground over 2000 all purpose, this guy may not have even peaked yet..just watch the video and tell me murray isn't special talent. The next 3 seasons will be around the same. What more could you ask for? Instant answer for the lack of qb play
If he has a bunch more seasons like this one, then yes, he is HOF bound but to say that after 1 amazing season is ridiculous. He could get injured, end up on a bad team and regress. It's not like he's been doing this for 5 years even.
If he had been doing this for 5 seasons I wouldn't want him, he would have already peaked. Murray is peaking right now, this is when you want the kid. Perfect chance for the Jets to establish a phase of football that has a great potential to be dominant in the immediate future. But we talk about rookie college qbs and bench warmer vets; like a rookie won't take years to develop or one of these vets is going to 'magically' find the "light" with the New York Jets Murray is star studded NFL talent, a "feature" back; primed to take this team to the post season, next season.
Murray will be in for a rude awakening when he goes to his new team and barely breaks 1000, if he even gets that many carries again.. which is rare in the modern day era
You guys knocking Murray are clueless...absolutely clueless...he is a beast. a rare talent. Spiller over Murray? Ivory? GTFOH....now, I understand hes looking for a moster pay day and im not sure we are the right team to give it to him but to knock him is absolute lunacy
I am not saying i wouldn't want him, i'm saying it is asinine to call him a no doubt HOFer at this point in his career.
Not many RBs are better then Murray. AP, Bell, Lynch, Shady. Prob the only RBs I would take over Murray right now.
Would LOVE to get DeMarco. But it makes me nervous pinning our hopes and dreams for the entire season on knee ligaments, shoulder tendons, and rib cartilage that gets crushed to the ground 25-30 times each and every game! Would so much rather have Vinny Testaverde throwing to Chrebet and Jumbo Elliot while Curtis Martin crushes the will of opposing defenses than Geno "Im Great" Smith overthrowing our WR de jour in between nice runs by DeMarco. A RB is so much more fun to watch when playing along side a QB that's just as dangerous.
Rebuild the offensive line ( for real ) and sign Murray. With the addition of him to add to a backfield that has Ivory could be exciting. If we do have to start over at QB, that will make developing one easier. Good blocking and an awesome running game could get us back on track. Then we could sign a veteran or journeyman and not need him to do to much. Just a thought. Murray is a great back, he would a be a great addition for us.
I think he's destine for the Colts.. He's also 27 and had 1 healthy season behind the best OL in the biz.. No thanks
There's about 5 or 6 guys i'd take over him. One of them is Ivory. Imagine ivory behind that o-line in dallas... no contact until he reaches the secondary! He would destroy corners and safeties... with a smile
All this 3 page discussion is pointing out to me is that what we really need to fix is our OL first, not the RB position, that is just a bonus.
If we could be guaranteed 1500 yards and 15 TD's and a full season of health I say you sign him. But that obviously cant be guaranteed. He also would be getting a substantial downgrade at QB, OLine and talent at other playmaker positions so the chances of him duplicating his 2014 Cowboys success on an offense like the Jets is highly unlikely. He's probably going to command 8 mil a year over 3-4 years. Way too much. Give me a RB in the draft. Cheaper, younger. Spend the $$ on getting oline and secondary help. The only playmaker big $$ should be spent on is Demariyus Thomas.
I dont think anybody is knocking DeMarco..He's good, had a good year. But he's also behind the best line in football, before they had the best line in football DeMarco would show up for about 3-4 big games and be unheard of the rest of the way, or injured. I could see him going somewhere else and being a contributor, but not carrying the team like he did this season. Most teams don't even run that much any more anyway, i don't think Chan is going to have a shitload of running plays either.
