THAT'S what we should aspire to.

To develop a QB who is "not as bad as it seems".

I recall Sanchez throwing 5 against the Bills.

I never said Shancez played well, but he improved in his second season.

Can we say the same about Geno?

If so , how can you prove this?

But what if we surround him with more talent and dumb down the offense?

You know, cover up his flaws?

    That's a good plan, right?

Sanchez was the worst QB of all time.. We all had our rose colored glasses on because our defense was so elite.. Once that defense went down the drain in 2011, Sanchez and company went with it. Lets not get carried away.

our defense and run game made sanchez. outside of mark's 4th qtr comebacks (which is the only reason he even gets praise for his 2nd season) he's been Geno Smith.

Do you honestly believe that Geno is/was better than Sanchez?

They both suck... At least Geno seems like he wants to be here and work hard to get better... Mark was too worried about his next photo shoot.

Agreed... Geno is our best option looking at Free Agency and the draft this year..

Rookie year, in the 6th start of his career.

Geno threw more INTs to his opponent than to his own team in his SECOND year--his 24th start.

But why are we comparing Sanchez?

come on.. we all know sanchez was the "best team mate ever "... haha.. sanchez was pathetic and he still is. there's no way in hell sanchez leads the 2013 jets to 8-8 as much as that defense got burned.. and Geno had LESS talent to work with than Sanchez in the plax & mason season. imagine that. Sanchez couldnt hold Geno's jock

Hold on a second--I am resigned to the fact that Geno is probably the best QB to start this year.

This is a discussion about whether we PASS on Mariota because we have Geno holding down the fort.

That is a recipe for another decade of mediocrity and losing.

    Start Geno absolutely.

But the long term plan had better be to take Mariota if he is there or trade up for him if we fear Philly will leap frog us.

I just feel like Sanchez had the better talent and gameplan around him to succeed. We have a beast in the backfield in Ivory and here Geno is throwing Hail Mary's on first down.. That ain't Geno's fault that is Morningshit.

Ok..... We aren't in Tennessee or Tampa where we have the luxury of drafting a QB in the Top 10 and sitting him for a year or two.. This is New York last time I checked and there will be an uproar if Mariota doesn't take that first snap under center in Week 1.

No, he isn't. Matt Moore, Shaun Hill, Hoyer, and Mallet are all better options... take off the green googles and watch the tape!

What aspect of his game did he improve? His footwork and mechanics in general are awful and he has to be one of the most unaware players in the league . Geno looks good when D Coordinators rush three and give him five to seven seconds to go threw his progressions and reset his feet .. I'll give you that. Does Geno even know how to look off a saftey with his eyes and shoulders?

Well I guess you and I are different fans.

I'm figuring Bowles is the type of guy who won't give a shit about any "uproar".

I'm perfectly content to have him sit for what would amount to a full year. Play him in mop up duty in blow outs or towards the end of the season when we've been eliminated just to get his feet wet.

No need to start him week 1 or wee 10, this is a reset year IMHO.
