Didnt see one on the board, so here is a thread to discuss some of the Assistant Coaches HC Bowles would look to bring in: Here is one to chew on from Jeff Darlington: Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 8m8 minutes ago Yes MT @JeffDarlington: With Callahan set to leave Dallas, don’t assume he’l be OC. Plans to be selective. High demand for his OL services Man, having Callahan back as OL coach for the Jets would be incredible. Something to watch for certain.
It would be great to get Callahan back as the OC coach, especially with that position set to undergo some big changes over the next couple of years. The big key, I think, will be who they bring in as the QB coach. Whoever gets that gig, along with Gailey, will have a massive job awaiting them.
Yea hope they bring in some young up and coming offensive people that can be promoted when the Gailster retires.
David Lee was QB Coach in Buffalo under Chan Gailey in 2012. So I wouldnt be surprised if he stays on. Especially if they stick with Geno. A bit of continuity would help. But hopefully Gailey throws all Wildcat proposals in the garbage.
id have promoted karl dunbar to DC to avoid losing him some continuity on defense would have been good
Perfect choice for QB coach would be George Whitfield Jr. I think he could really turn Geno into something.
He probably makes a hell of a lot more money as a contracted QB-trainer/ TV personality than he ever would as anyone's QB coach. Less stress, Less expectations, work from home, more money.. He'd have to be pretty stupid to give that up for a QB coach job.
Its def a longshot..and I wouldnt expect it at all. But its a guy like that who could get the most out of Geno. A more realistic choice like Lee wont do much for him IMO.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 3m3 minutes ago Redskins have hired former Cowboys offensive coordinator Bill Callahan, per @Edwerderespn.
Via Alex Marvez Source tells @NFLonFOX that @Atlanta_Falcons DBs coach Joe Fanna leaving to @NYJets. Danna & Todd Bowles worked together for @MiamiDolphins
I just wanted a young offensive coordinator ....Under 63...somebody trying to make a name for themselves not a guy who's been out of the league for two years who's older then my dad (58)
What might be going somewhat unnoticed here with all the concern about Gailey is what Bowles is doing defense wise. Slowly but surely he is adding some real talent to that side of the ball. He is taking he best defensive position coach for years out of Miami, Kacy Rodgers; he is adding Mike Caldwell as defensive assistant and LB coach , (he did a great job with the Arizona LB) , and hunting for either Joe Dana (Atlanta) or Ryan Slowik as secondary coach. Damn, our D will get better and faster next year. And we will not have to make any proclamations about it. As for offense, I'm hoping they bring in some young stud as assistant to Gailey to add some new perspective and take over the reigns eventually. BTW, I'll take 3rd and inches with a wide open formation under Gailey and not the dreaded 3rd and loose 5 more with the wildcat BS.
