I agree with the OP. Chan Gailey is an underrated offensive mind.

i really don't know why he wouldn't restructure. its just a means of allocating some of his salary cap hit this year to the rest of his contract via a prorated bonus.

he'd still be paid 10 million+ cash in hand when all is said and done, its just that his cap hit would shrink. if anything he should WANT a pretty sizable restructure because whatever is allocated is all guaranteed to him… as opposed to keeping his salary as is and being liable to be cut while making nothing…

if Mac really wants him around i don't see how this would be a problem, its not like he actually takes a pay cut...

The Jets don't need to reallocate his cap figure. They're swimming in cap space this year. They'd be better off just taking the hit and seeing if he's worth the number or not. By the end of the year they'll know and he's an easy no cap fuss cut if they don't like what they see in 2015. If they renegotiate him then the free and clear cap cut is no longer an option. They'll just pay the hit for him in 2016 instead of 2015, a year in which they're probably going to have less cap space available.

yeah thats certainly an option i wouldn't be surprised they took. really unless they want to make a push for bryant or Thomas (who reasonably won't be available) why not keep harvin's deal as is?

its just an issue of having appropriate value really, 10 million is a bit much for a guy like Harvin whereas deckers 6.5 mil cap hit feels very appropriate.

of course, and I'm sure you've noticed this too, his value just went up thanks to our reported new O-Coordinator, I'm drooling with the thought of him playing flanker to deckers split-end and kerley's Slot.

Already it begins, lets start off blaming Gailey for Geno's short comings and the undrafted QB not being developed correctly because of Chan, FIRE HIM NOW

Did you actually read his message?

He said he's upset about the hiring because he is a Bills fan. He's saying he is upset because he thinks Gailey is good. He's not a Jets fan complaining about him being bad; he's upset because he thinks this will make it harder for his Bills to win.

Oh they exist, until they're on your team and the offense has a bad stretch of games or a bad season.

Chan was a good OC.......my only issue with him is the Spiller/Jackson rotation. There were many times where CJ would break off a nice run for a big game and come out of the game to catch is breath and Chan would keep him on the sidelines for multiple series. When he got questioned on why he keeps doing that , his reply was "it was Fred's turn" or "CJ was winded and needed a blow".......even Spiller grew frustrated with Chan for taking him out of the game for long stretches.

Thats the only thing I had an issue with........Chan not knowing how to stick with the hot hand at RB.

I do expect us to have success against the Jets since Rex seemed to have figured out Chan's offense and defended it well.

    2010 - Jets 38 Bills 14
    Jets 38 Bills 7

    2011 - Jets 27 Bills 11
    Jets 28 Bills 24

    2012 - Jets 48 Bills 28
    Bills 28 Jets 9

Rex's defense used to smack our offense around , I think the success continues with Rex vs Chan.

You guys will be wanting to fire Chan Failey after one year. He would abandon what was going well and force his QB to throw. 3rd and one he would line up 5 wide... As if he had a QB that could do it. Players got "winded" when he wasn't using then enough, even though CJ said he never got winded when asked. He knows those short games that get by but don't do the trick when needed most. He refused to want a new QB, kept Fitz and Thigpen... Wouldn't move on.

Seems to be a solid hire. I wanted Kyle S but that doesn't seem like it's happening. Only good thing about Gailey is he won't run off to be a HC like some of the younger guys would.
