Tannehill barely threw to him this year and I'm pretty sure he rarely, if ever, lines up in the slot

fully aware i'll get flamed for this, but my top target would be Revis.

allow Bowles and company maximum flexibility with defensive game plans
instantly improves our horrendous CB situation. improves our third down efficiency, and improves our pass rush.
keeps a key player off of the Patriots and Bills

my only caveat is how much will it cost? if we talking over 14M, then i might back off.

Byron Maxwell was very average this year. He wouldn't be a bad signing but he's not a top flight CB.

I'm not saying he's great but he can provide much needed stability to our CB corps.

Totally agree. I would have no problem with the Jets bringing him in.

Just because he had the size doesn't mean shit.

Usually players will stay with their current team, if they're offered a fair contract. Arizona might offer him a nice deal and prevent him from hitting free agency. Also, if he becomes a free agent he might lean towards going back with Rex.

On the other hand, I could see him wanting to follow Bowles too. It's hard to know which way he's leaning. He might go to some completely unrelated team too, if they made him the biggest offer.

Hey look, the Jets potentially have a good young secondary and don't think that Bowles doesn't know that. Bowles knows Dbs since he was one and probably has a good idea on any FA corners he might want to sign. And don't start screaming "Sign Cro, we want Cro, if we had Cro we would made the playoffs." He just might not think that Cro is that good. Some of our younger players like Marcus Williams got a lot of on the job training last year. But the question is: Can Dee Milliner be an elite cover corner. If he is then we're not in bad shape at all.

I think it's between Arizona, Buffalo or the Jets.

Id like to see Brandon Graham added to our defense. Hes no Houston, but hes a solid player that shouldnt come too expensive

Not me, I'd pay him 15 or 16 a year. Just use the 11 mil going to Harvin and pay Revis a little more instead. The jets would still have 35 million in cap space if they signed Revis at 15 a year.

No way, no how 15m for Revis. He ain't the number one shut down corner any more, not even close. Gordie Nelson torched him and so did Flaco. He is still solid, but not deserving of number 1 money. We can do much better with that money, like a premier OLB or QB.

It makes absolutely no sense to give Revis $15 mil a year if you can have Cro for less than half of that.

We really... REALLY need to let this Revis thing go.

It's not exactly a popular sentiment around here, but I am really anxious to see what McDougle looks like this year. I have higher hopes of him staying healthy than I do for Milliner. Granted, that could all change by the end of next season, but for now I remain optimistic for the young man.

not even close to being a number one shut down corner anymore?
you can make a very good argument he was the best in league again this year, and had tremendous impact on the Patriots overall D.

    15M is a little steep, i'd agree.
I wouldn't mind Cro, but he's also about half as good as Revis. wouldn't provide nearly the same impact imo..

Anyone think our new GM could pry Andre Johnson away from Houston? Has a great working relationship with their fron office and Andre's contract doesnt fit with their future plans.....we need the skills he brings to the table....any thoughts???

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned him yet by why not Larry Fitzgerald. He is a Cardinal that Bowles already knows and will be somewhere in the 8 - 10 million range, and personally I would rather have Fitz then Harvin. Ideally free agency would look like this.

    Iupati - 9 million
    Cromartie - 5 million
    Fitzgerald - 10 million
    Justin Houston - 15 million.

Assuming we cut Harvin, that would leave the Jets with about 25 million still to spend, which is plenty for some smaller free agent names and resignings.
