The latest: Dan Quinn is the favorite for the job, but also drawing interest from at least one other team (49ers). Speaking of the Niners, they are also interested in Josh McDaniels, as are the Falcons. No word yet that the Jets have any interest in him, but what if we lose Quinn? Todd Bowles is the other likely HC candidate for us, based on a reportedly good interview. He's the only one available now, but that could change if the Pats and/or Seahawks lose today. (highly unlikely Seattle loses, of course, but possible). Frank Reich is also a possibility, though he seems less likely than Quinn or Bowles at this point. .... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ork-jets-in-a-conundrum-waiting-for-dan-quinn
I just hope that either the Seahawks lose or the 49ers go out and hire someone because I'm nervous that Woody won't be willing to wait until February to sign Quinn when there's direct competition for him.
Id still take Kubiak and Reich over Quinn..but if Shanahan comes with Quinn (highly unlikely IMO) I'd lean that way.
Yeah, but how much of the Chargers' offensive success can be attributed to Reich? Remember that head coach Mike McCoy was a highly successful OC before he became their HC...(just throwing that out there)
I voted for Marrone. He's available with Jets ties plus he's done a good job rebuilding two teams as head coach. I have no problem with any of the other guys except MdDaniels. But why this love for Quinn a guy most of you never heard of before a few weeks ago. He is unproven.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's the Seahawks defensive coordinator? (just a wild guess lol)
I put a lot of stock in how the fans message boards and current players feel about how successful they think a coach can be. Yes I read this board so I know what a terrible idea that can be but diehard fans at least have a pulse on success and tendencies of said coach. That said Quinn seems to be well respected and his current players and fans seem as if they will truly miss his abilities as a coach more so than the other options at least so he gets my vote.
3 votes for Reich, and none for Bowles? That surprises me. Reich is pretty much a figurehead in Mike McCoy's offense. (like Rex Ryan's defensive coordinator with the Jets)
Bowles is a real good coach. I think he was Fins interim head coach in 2011 so they chose him over everyone on the staff. Which is saying a lot.
reich, i like the idea of bringing in a guy who will want to make it a qb eccentric program. tired of the position being a secondary focus. nd since none of these guys have ever been h.c. of a team, none of the choices are better than the rest
Just because you had never heard of him until a couple weeks ago, doesn't mean that automatically applies to everyone else on this board. He was also a fairly hot name last year during the coach search for some teams. He's been generating buzz for awhile now.
Don't get me wrong. He's a good coach and excellent candidate to be Jets HC. But no reason to go crazy over. Again he's totally unproven as a HC. He could end up being a lot better than Marrone. Or visa versa.
Not sure why McDaniels is an option we haven't and won't be interviewing him. Kubiak shoulve been included.
I love the playcalling in Colts. Pep Hamilton is my choice but I know not gonna happen. Among the favorites I would chose Bowles over Quinn. Bowles because we can attribute Cardinals defensive success 100% on him while with Quinn you wonder how much of Seattle's defensive success can be attributed to him.
I don't want to get into this again. But I don't buy all of these shots at him by some Bills fans and bums like Mehta. If Mehta hates him he can't be that bad. He has bonafide success as a HC and can rebuild a team and he's done it twice. Don't want to give him any credit for that. Your choice.
