Doug Marrone is interviewing today, per NFL.com, and Dan Quinn and Tom Cable of the Seahawks interviewed yesterday. A couple more interviews are scheduled as well if they don't hire Marrone today...
I wouldn't be opposed to kicking the tires on Kubiak, I love what he brings to the running game as far as his schemes he seems to turn any running back into a 1000+ yard beast and it would take a lot of pressure off Geno Smith if he was to win a competition next year(miracle). Dan Quinn seems to be a good leader but I question if he tried to use such a simple base scheme without personnel like Seattle but I think hes the RR type that would adjust to his personnel so I'd take him as well.
At this point, I'd go either Quinn or Bowles. Cable or Kubiak would be a disaster. I'd be ok with Marrone with the condition that Paul Hackett's son is banned from this organization. I honestly know nothing about Frank Reich as a coach (only as a player), and to be honest the idea of a one year coordinator is somewhat scary... but again, he might be fantastic, I don't know.
He reminds me of Gus Bradley the man he replaced as Seahawks DC,Who has been a failure so far as head coach of the Jags
It would be a bold decision. Bold decisions on teams with bleak talent usually don't work out well. Whoever the next Jets GM is would need to do a fantastic job of retooling the roster in a hurry.
Yea I don't get that, why even waste time on a guy who you know doesn't stand a chance. The safest decison is Doug Marrone at this point,I am starting to warm up to the idea of Frank Reich tho
Quinn has only been a NFL coordinator for two seasons,When you look at the talent on the Seahawks defense any d coordinator can have success there
I just like the fact that he's a former QB and has more insight in that area.He might be the next Hardbaugh for all we know.Id be ok with Reich or Marrone at this point
It's a fair point. The best thing I've seen in regards to Quinn is that he builds his scheme based on who he has, as opposed to forcing players into roles within his scheme (aka Quinton Coples playing OLB since DE was already stacked with the Jets, even though he's clearly better at that role). This is really not the most exciting group of coaches the Jets have to choose from.
It seems everyone wants one of the two local boys and since both are previous Jets, I would be happy with either. I just hope if it is Dan Quinn, he brings in a good OC. I also want true competition at every position. For the QB position we need to improve and I would love to trade Smith for Glennon. With a good solid running game, Glennon could be a good QB. Also, I am still in favor of Sean Mannion in the mid rounds, confident he could beat out Smith.
