This. He's a less fancy Amari Cooper. He won't be there in the second, but he's a guy I wouldn't mind trading down for to pick up an extra pick.

Like who? Would love to hear your list here because you must have more insider knowledge then scouts and other nfl personnel.

It honestly comes down to statistics the guy labeled to be the top guy comes to fruition half the time if that...look at Clowney...heck even Watkins...luck has a small part in the process...as well as a good deep scouting and development department...most gems who complete a team come in the late rounds

Doubt many of us picked OBJ to be the best WR of last years class if they did he would've gone to the Bills...

Didn't want one, but if I did, it was Bridgewater far above the others for me. Now, I prefer Mariota, not a far drop-off if any to Winston for me. But I'm yo-yoing... Part of me is a little scared worried about either guy busting. Part of me says, who cares, first round draft picks are cheap enough nowadays so it's worth the risk. Part of me says I'd rather have someone like Bradford despite the injury history. And part of me says maybe Geno can play like week 17 regularly since it's only been 2 years and maybe a real QB coach can get something out of him.

There's no proof of it, but I agree with him. I didn't buy into the Watkins hype either. Thought his ceiling was a mid tier number 1, which is great, but not worth trading up for. I think the same of Watkins. I'm very intrigued by DGB more than anyone else but he's got off the field issues. I'm also very intrigued by Tyler Lockett, though he's not the prototypical WR we're necessarily looking for. A number of guys I'd rather take that aren't going to cost a top 1st round pick like Cooper will.

I also thought Bortles was the cream of the crop...he just might be...give him time...most successful long tenured quarterbacks struggled in year one...aka Aikman Manning...the guys who blow up year one don't last long

and that is the reason why this team constantly has issues with receivers that are just average or not that good. The elite receivers are hard to come by and a majority of them are top picks for a reason. There is a reason why Cooper led the nation in receiving. There is a reason why he is the number 1 WR on the board. We can always take a chance on a someone else later on in the draft for sure but the risk factor is much greater then taking a pretty close to sure thing in Cooper.

Agreed, but my issue is who is this top drafted WR that's won a Super Bowl? I feel like the teams that invest in the name at the position are destined to be mediocre. I consider the position to be a complementary position, one that you go after when you have almost all the pieces you need. An accurate QB, or an OL that can give the QB time, allows for those run of the mill WRs to be able to get open. I've never been a believer in a WR being the QB's best friend. To me, it's the OL. A great WR helps, but it's not a necessity in my book. Seen plenty of teams win the Super Bowl with less than what even we have at the position. Waste of a top pick to me. I'd rather let someone else get the next Reggie Wayne, if it means we get the next Aaron Rodgers, Justin Houston, or Joe Thomas. Just my opinion.

I really, really like Coates but I also think he will be there waiting for us in the 2nd round. Could be wrong of course.

Speaking of Picks...I wanted us to draft Martavis Bryant last year in the 4th round. Instead, we took Jalen Saunders & Shaq Evans. Bryant had issues, but was also like 6'4" 211 and ran a 4.4 40. Also played with Ryan's son at Clemson, so you figure they'd have known about the kid, but, maybe that was what threw them off, who knows.

Instead, Saunders is off the team & Shaq Evans spent the year on IR, while Bryant was inactive for 6 games and still caught 8TDs this year.

    Thanks for nothing, John Idzik.

Getting a WR in the draft is impossible for us. I'm still pissed off about Alshlon Jeffery/Stephen Hill.

Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it. Let's put some context here.

Keep in mind that Bryant had Big Ben throwing to him in the Steelers 2nd ranked passing offense, and had Antonio Brown on the field drawing the other teams best and concentration.
He still only had 26 catches in 10 games. He caught most of the TDs when Ben was lighting the world on fire throwing like 6 a game.

With out idiot coaching staff, he could have been cut, or never seen the field.

I wasn't thrilled with Saunders pick but I think Evans was a good pick and do not knock the Jets for taking him over Bryant.

Well we screwed our selfs and no Mariotta or even Cooper. Yet I image Harvin being gone due to the high salary, but receiver is still out big need.

I say trade down and pick up West Virginia WR Kevion White. I would pass on Parker and no way would I pick White at #6. White is more polished Parker and I would rate him just behind Cooper in ability and production.

A mid round pick I like at WR is Ty Montgomery. Played four years and is a good sized possession receiver with good speed.

Outside of DL, WR is the absolute last position we need to address.

On one hand u are correct since we went 3 deep in last years draft......and a TE.

However, we have nothing to show for it so I would expect ALL positions to be in play come May

It's really a travesty the jets don't have at least 1 up and coming WR from the last 2 draft classes.
