if you don' trust the franchise, you don't trust the franchise and everything is going to be looked at with a crooked eye. it doesn't matter who the advisors were, they were going to have connections to atleast one prospective h.c./g.m. and someone was going to call out nepotism/cronyism. its the nfl there are only 32 teams and everyone knows everyone. thats why you ask the ones who have won for their lists of contacts, winning breeds winners. as far as rushing, it doesn't seem to me like they are rushing things. they took advantage of the bye week to interview the candidates they wouldn't be able to next week when that window closes. there really hasn't been anything eye raising about the search so far other than the spike in talk when a h.c. came available that wasn't when the list was made. and i can not remember the name of the headhunter firm, but if you ask seattle about them, the jets were just unlucky, of course we think they suck so i would guess they fall somewhere in the middle
Haha you can post whenever you want! Don't let me stop you. I just wanted your enter key removed since you're so enter key happy! Marrone doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. I don't feel great or even good about him. I just don't like the thought that an offensive guy means his team offense should be awesome. Just generally speaking, of course.
I just read an article online about Marrone and his leaving the Bills from a Buffalo newspaper and saw a video from a local newscast. They said he was worried about the direction the Bills org was going and that they will hire someone outside the org to run football operations. Also he's known as being very thin skinned and not liking media criticism. Welcome to New York Doug and meet Manish Mehta. Also they concluded that if he signs with the Jets the Bills will file tampering charges.
If you were an NFL coach and you had total support and a great relationship with your boss, and that guy dies. Would you feel confident about new boss whom has no knowledge and shows no understanding of your coaching ability ..... wouldn't you abandon ship?
Sorry. I was under the impression that Wilson died and the new owner won't give Marrone a new contract.
Generally, yes. There's more to it though. It was reported back in July that Marrone and GM Whaley's relationship was tumultuous. If that's true, that has nothing to do with the owner. There's also the report about him being paranoid about the media - also nothing to do with the owner. Then there's the whole "power play" where Marrone thought he was Bill Parcells and attempted to use his opt-out clause as leverage for more money, even though we still havent made the playoffs and there was already 2 years left on his deal - typically a move made only by established, successful coaches (Chip kelly) and not new coaches still marred by mediocrity and uncertainty. I dont blame the Pegulas for not wanting to be taken advantage of for really no apparent reason. I guess there is one report that states Marrone was "uncertain" of change within the organization, although nothing has changed. At the end of the day who knows I guess.
If they hire Marrone what I heard online via Buff TV is they might file a tampering charge against the Jets. So maybe procrastinating a little makes sense. You wait a week conduct your other interviews and then hire him. And then you can tell the Bills owner that he can go and take a flying fuck.
He tried to get a 2 year extension for him and the assistant coaches with no raise and your owner said no. Not exactly trying to hold him up. And the owner not willing to give his coaching staff a vote of confidence. I hope you guys get Rex Ryan.
He originally signed a 4 year deal. He just completed year 2. He had 2 years left to go. Half way through his deal he still hasn't met the goal of making the playoffs despite having a playoff caliber roster. He has made an improvement from 6-10 to 9-7, but without seeing what year 3 brings, why would you give him an extension beyond the 2 years he already has left? To me, you don't earn that extension by missing the playoffs 2 straight years. What has he done to earn an extension beyond the 2 years he already had left? I dont blame the Pegulas one bit for not giving in to a coach who hasn't proved anything yet.
Because you don't want to get fired after one year. It's called security. He had the opt out and your owner showed he had no interest in retaining him. Plus he's in the process of revamping the front office. He already offered the job to Polian who turned it down. Did you really think you were going to make the playoffs in year 2 of his contract. If I was your owner I give him a vote of confidence. As for Schwartz: he's just not a good head coach.
New ownership + viable QB suddenly retiring + no first round pick + $4million guaranteed to walk away = no brainer
If he is thinned skinned and doesn't like media criticism then maybe he shouldn't come here. Buffalo is nothing compared to the spotlight of NY. The question I have is how much of the Bills going from 6-10 to 9-7 was Marrone or Schwartz. Their D was really good this year and was the main reason they won 9 games. That was mostly to due to Schwartz not Marrone. Their offense sucked and Marrone is supposed to be an O guy specifically the O-line.
