What did you expect, him to pimp guys he is not familiar with? Or he doesn't believe in? You're right about Marrone but guess what? He hasn't been signed right away, he is one of many candidates that are being interviewed and considered just as he is for a couple other teams as well. Casserly was brought in to do exactly what he is doing, which most agreed with. Now that he is doing it and some don't like the names being mentioned there is an issue.
It doesn't matter...as much as it depresses me...it's clear that Marrone is gonna be the next Jets coach come Monday....and it will go down as one of the biggest mistakes this team has ever made...I hope you guys are ready for conservative play calling at its finest.....you thought Herm was bad...they don't call it "4th and Doug" up here for nothing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I expect Casserly to be an honest broker in the process. Nothing more or less. He should have recused himself from this if he was going to promote HIS guys. That's a conflict of interest if there ever was one. That they are interviewing everyone on their compiled list is great. No problem with that at all. It will just smell to high hell if the most qualified candidates all happen to be Charlie's old pals. No way in hell does that pass the smell test.
I know you don't want me to post Mike, but I've got to point out to you that Marrone and Hackett are the same guy. One and the same. They have been together for five years. Hackett implements Marrone's philosophy, gameplan etc...Marrone has said as much whenever the good townspeople of Buffalo went looking for Nate holding torches and pitchforks.
I am not sure Marrone is a lock. I think if they choose macagnan they sign Marrone...if they get the Seattle guy we go for Quinn...I think they are looking for a package
Considering that none of us are in the interviews, we really won't know who is the best candidate. But its casserly and wolf in on the search so that gives a bit of checks and balances.
The game planning and his offensive philosophy wasn't the problem it was the play calling and execution. Hopefully he doesn't bring Hackett with him but as of right now Hackett is under contract so there isn't reason to believe he will. And considering the follow out from his Buffalo criticisms and the Hackett name in this city I doubt he would. He's not the type to worry about being upstaged by who works under him anyway so he's not going to be tied to a butt buddy like Hackett... as OC in New Orleans his offenses were 5th (25ppg), 12th (23ppg) and 1st (29 ppg)... Please do some research/share something besides the same, stupid Buffalo narrative.
I could picture everyone on the Jets who are involved and in the interview room wearing one of these.Just the idea of woody saying "Tebow wasn't my idea" while wearing one of these is a perfect image
I expect Casserlys hair peice to come into question in atleast one interview and possibly even fall off when he starts doing hand stands to impress candidates
First off, you were complaining two days ago about not having a GM in place yet, now you're saying he's rushing it. He hired a headhunter firm to look for a GM two years ago, that's what headhunter firms do. They are not objective, they have considerable research teams to analyze candidates to find the best match of who is available. Idzik at the time was the guy. You can argue about his results, but his resume was impressive. The way we got Tebow was stupid, I'll give you that, but the way we used Tebow was worse. Revis was a casualty of his contract and our cap situation at the time, Woody has show no problem with spending money on players in the past. Considering a HC is not the same as hiring one. If Harbaugh said yes to an offer, would you want to wait for a GM? If a GM that we wanted said yes if _______ can be my coach, would you want him to wait? You hire people to do a search based on what and who they know, who you tell them you're looking for. What style of team you want to build and what coach can do the most with the players you currently have on long term deals. Woody may not be the best owner, but he has been willing to change when things go wrong.
Can we please stop saying Marrone wasn't good at Syracuse? In the 4 years prior to his arrival under Greg Robinson they went 10-37. With Marrone they went 25-25 with 2 bowl wins. He was a MAJOR upgrade for that team.
Let's hope this "final call" is at the GM level ONLY! Then he can step his philanthropic ass back and let the GM do is freakin' job.
