If I were Woody I would not bring in a guy who is really thin-skinned. While I admire that Marrone won with the likes of Manuel and Orton, and also that he benched Manuel early, two impressive factors in my book, since I think Orton stinks and I know Manuel stinks, I feel like the league is changing and Marrone is a throwback. I want someone newer and faster on his feet. I am sick of all the sniping and all the deriding of Jets officials. I did not enjoy last year or this one, and it was not only because of the record.

Supposedly Woody isn't a babe in arms. Do you think he's really so stupid that he would let Casserly pull off that kind of crap. The guy runs a huge hospital.Plus he's a major philanthropist and that's big business. The Jets are a minor acquisition of his. And he's making the final call not Casserly.

I'm not sure what the problem is here. The majority seemed to be bringing in Casserly, a true football guy, to advise Woody was a good idea. So what exactly is the problem with him leading Woody to candidates he believes in?

All I said is he's not the "most highly sought after" because he's not. It's misleading to say that as it implies that it's not an opinion that we gave up the best coach available but it's an objective fact. It's not. I'm pretty sure Quinn has like 4 teams (i.e. twice as many as Rex) who have scheduled interviews with him so, by that logic, Quinn is twice as good as Rex. That, obviously, is not necessarily the case either. I'm just trying to keep the commentary fair and balanced here.

you want to quibble over most highly sought after that's ok, he's one of them and numerous teams are looking at him.

I learned a lot on these boards. apparently:

    our GM sucked
    our OC sucked
    our QB sucked
    our HC sucked

how the heck did we win 4 road playoff games and get to 2 AFC title games w/ such buffoonery? It must have been the amazing talent that Eric Mangini assembled here:D

Maybe he'll go to another team and win 12 consecutive Super Bowls. Or maybe he'll be behind a desk for ESPN for the rest of his career. We won't know until it happens. I don't harbour any ill will against Rex (although I do agree with firing him) and as long as we're not playing against whatever team he ends up with I wish him the best.

I will say this: I do not believe Rex Ryan as the Head Coach of any NFL team is the x-factor that puts them over the top and wins them a Super Bowl. If they are a Super Bowl calibre team they will win partially because of and not inspite of him but I don't think he takes a borderline Super Bowl calibre team and due to superior coaching wins a Super Bowl. Maybe I'm wrong, I just don't see it happening. Ever.

OK so Marrone doesn't call his own plays. That's a good thing. The OC is supposed to call the plays. Marrone is a head coach not a coordinator. Who knows we might get a coach whose in charge and accountable for the entire operation.

To get Marrone you have to make a decision now. Not wait a month. Or promote Graves and let him sit in on the interview on Sunday.

LOL...you clearly are in no 2ay whatsoever letting Rex go...clearly you think he was some fantastic head coach that got screwed by Idzik and the Jets and not having a real QB and a million other excuses...amazing how bullet proof he is to some people

It would be a shocker if he signed with them. But a definite upgrade from Marrone. You have to admit that even if you like Marrone.

EVERY SINGLE coaching candidate is better than Rex. There is no chance of a downgrade. None. Rex was completely awful, and not only that but WORSE than when he first started

ok, who are the coaches putting their teams over the top? Jim Harbaugh? who else? his team dominated a great Pats team(probably the best sicne the '07 season) in the div rd when Belichick(supposedly the greatest coach of all time) had Tom Brady in his prime and you are going to tell me coaching had little to do with that?

this is yet another example of why we have the worst fanbase in sports and deserve to lose.

Your reading comprehension is terrible. In that same post you quoted I said I was moving on, letting it go. Doesn't mean I don't still think he was a great HC. The point is, it doesn't matter what I think about him, he is gone. It's time to move on.

I don't need to defend a guy that has already been fired, that is counter productive my man. Sounds like the only people that are still holding on to it are those that have this strange need to make sure they get their last say in, people like you are bothered that people like me still view Rex as a good coach.

In all honesty you are probably scared you were wrong about him as a coach, considering the unknown we are about to delve into. It's ok though because right or wrong, this is where we are. All the anti-rex people have won.

So, pat yourself on the back, hope that the next phase is productive because if not, people like me are definitely going to let you know about it.

    *Cheers* Here comes 2015.

The extremes are why the fan base isn't great. Not just his view, but your view too that Rex was great. It is crazy. He is not the worst candidate out there but he also certainly is not the best. And had to be fired. Should have been fired after 2012. Definitely should have been fired THE NIGHT of Sanchez's injury against the Giants, then going 4-12 a slam dunk for firing. Yet still people defend him? Crazy.

I don't call Rex great, great is reserved for HOF caliber but Rex was great for our franchise and is one of the best coaches in this league.

the sanchez thing was all on Idzik. the issue is we never should have fired Tannebaum but that's what our brilliant fanbase wanted and they get everything they want which is why we never win.
