Whatever. He was totally hands off the D. That's the point I'm making.
And maybe that's a positive - not fixing something that's not broken.
But that's not good enuf because lots needs fixing here.

AGREED!!! What television show does he moonlight for again...he can't even land a full time TV gig. He's only a consultant on those too! I say flush Casserly and keep Wolf.

Well, I'll tell you...if we have to pick from this turd stack might as well go ahead and bring Mora Jr. back to the NFL at this rate. He's definitely better than a scrub like Marrone and I wouldn't trust Hue with a Head Coaching gig if you PAID me to.

Typical fuckin' NY Jets...have to go coach hunting when there's nothing but vomit and shit to choose from.

I'd rather they hired a professional clown to be HC. He could ride a clown car onto the field when the players are announced.

    Is Bozo available?

At least it would give me a reason to watch on Sundays.

I can't think of a more uninspiring choice.

You whiff on harbaugh and suddenly doug freaking Marrone is the 2nd coming of John Wooden

    I just don't get it

So maybe he's a decent administrator (though his record re interpersonal relations suggests otherwise).
He did not design the NO offence, which by the way has no resemblance whatsoever to the Bills offense.
And he did not call plays.
So just what kind of an OC was he?
Some coordinators are pretty much straw men for their HC.

Yup....a picture is worth a thousand words. And it's not just still photos, watching him coach and patrol the sidelines, just how he goes about his business, how he interacts with his team, it's apparent this guy is not a winning head coach.

    Marrone is coaching flotsam.

Might as well hire mike martz or jerry glanville.

Woody, Go get DeCosta and then get out of his way, you cheap bastard.

You know...you definitely have something there too...he doesn't really pass the eyeball test either. I remember watching Landry....hell, even Bellichik...take a good look at Tomlin...

Marrone looks like a tomato standing on the sidelines...of course, Lombardi was a goofy lookin' fucker too but he dominated. Oh what the hell...fun to talk about anyway. LOL

It's not what he did. It's the fact that he had leverage. Since the contract stipulated that he had 3 days to decide if he wanted to leave the team and keep 4 million future dollars as well, he used that opportunity to try and extend his contract.

He probably told the owner "extend me or I may leave." The owner thought he was bluffing (or didn't care if he left) and held his ground. Marrone then saw the writing on the wall and got out while he was ahead.

I know he didn't design their offense, I know he didn't call the plays. I also know Payton thought highly of him whether he called the plays or not.

Like I've said, I'm not all that excited about Marrone but I know we could do worse and I know we've done worse in the past.

I feel you Axel but the point I was making was Doug Marrone had/has done nothing to warrant an extension. I'm willing to bet if his offense (him being an offensive minded guy you know) was ranked in the top 10 and they made the playoffs...that extension would have been signed and sealed. He accomplished little to nothing in 2 years...so no, I'm the new owner and you get nothing. The ONLY reason this guy is getting "play" right now is because the available candidates right now rank somewhere between vomit and turd scum.

It's a good point. For all we know, maybe Schwartz is the reason for the Bills dominant defense and Hackett+Marrone haven't proven anything on offense.

That said, I still don't think he's the worst candidate out there. He's not a big name by any means, but with a competent GM and a consistent direction for the Jets, I don't see why he couldn't turn this team around and compete soon.

    Then again, who knows.

LOL  Of COURSE they could do worse! They could hire Kotite back...hell, ANYONE could always do worse. The point is...if you have decided that is your barometer...your measuring stick...then let's go hire an unknown fuck and see where we go as opposed to hiring a turd like Marrone that we KNOW is going to drive us to mediocrity. Hell...he isn't even Rex Ryan's equal on Offense. As far as I'm concerned it's a wash at the HC position and a severe downgrade on his side of the ball. Shit....done a lot worse...really? That's where we've gone as far as Jets fans... "Oh...he he he he...we could do worse...in fact we have...he he he he." Shit, haven't sniffed a Super Bowl since '69...yeah...we've lived worse for over 40 years. :p

Well...there's your first mistake...you (huh huh huh...<insert Bevis & Butthead laugh) said "Competent GM." :D

Maybe we should go get that competent GM before we hire a head coach...sadly our Turd Scum owner chooses, or appears to be, going in backwards fashion. I have zero faith in him and can ONLY hope that Ron Wolfe has his ear far more than that loser Casserly. We shall see...

Of course, if we had a Competent GM...Ryan would still be here.

The Bills fans I spoke to at Met Life in Oct were all onboard for benching EJ. I didn't hear any complaining about Morrone that day before during and after the game. Of course they had no complaints with the results.
