As a Cuse fan and from upstate NY, I am a Morrone fan. I would be happy to get him. Since he was not available at the start of the week when we had setup interviews we had planned to head to Seattle, but why waste the time, get Morrone. He is a true NY'er and has a Jets connection from the Bill Parcells coaching tree. Biggest plus is he is an offensive coach. Up until now the best candidates we were set to interview were defensive. Since it seems we are not interested in Adam Gase, who is the only other offensive guy I would like, Morrone would be the best choice. Cancel the trip and sign the best option.
Agreed. The Jets have to do their due diligence before making any moves. If other teams want to pull the trigger on a particular candidate, that is fine by me. Personally, I think that hiring DeCosta would be the best move the Jets can make
You're clueless. This post is wrong on so many levels. If there is any chance in thie world we can get DeCosta, you wait. He is not sought after because of Ozzie. He is sought after because he is a genius and the best candidate out there.
It sounds like MacCagnan and Marrone is the most likely scenario if Marrone is hired because of their close relationship and because of the love of both by Casserley. But I don't think you can rush the process unless you know for sure Marrone is the guy you want. We don't know the thinking of Casserley, Wolf and Woody. But there certainly is a lot of speculation that Marrone might be the guy they are smitten with. But if Woody & company is in love with him that much then there is an advantage in making the hire sooner than later in being to assemble a staff more quickly. Hopefully Marrone will bring Schwartz with him.
The Bills offensive line is actually very good. They are a QB away from being AFC contenders. Yeah, way to listen to Bills fans.
Really? He was out coached by Schiano? How do you explain him going 2 - 1 against Schiano and his only loss was in 2OT?
This sounds like the start to a very disappointing offseason. Sounds like if Casserly and Wolf are pushing this guy we are in trouble. Another offseason of disappointment and future of disappointment to come. Starting to look like it might be time to take a step back from going to Jets game for a while for me. Woody maybe a big detriment to a winning franchise, we can never get it right. Sad way to start 2015
tampering ? nonsense! there is no no proof of anything. given that he has the right to opt-out built into his contract, you will never get that to stick. pegula has not exactly turned the sabres, or their ahl team in rochester , into powerhouses. both hockey teams are much worse since he became owner. people in buffalo are happy he kept the team from moving, but there is always that old saying: be careful what you wish for, cause you may get it. woody will not hire marrone unless the consultants recommend it. and, after interviewing lots of other hc candidates, no way does the league convict the jets of tampering. that rumor is just p.r., namely pegula covering his butt.
Interviewing all of these guys takes a lot of time. A genius. Really. In that case I'll take a real genius. How's about Stephen Hawking then since you want a genius.
I totally agree, mostly because I thought Rex had gotten stale. But Marrone's Bills have shown virtually nothing...not sure why those who like him like him. And I think Rex got everyone to listen, they just weren't very good on the offensive side of the ball.
My pointed question I would like someone...anyone to answer is exactly WHAT did Marrone DO to warrant a contract extension two years into the gig??
He'll take Schwartz with him. And the reason he had a bad offense is that Buffalo has no quarterback, no healthy running backs, and their front office cut their best wide receiver. I don't know about their o-line, but I haven't heard about it being one of the worst in the league or anything like that. And as for the "he's an o-line coach", so was John Madden.
God I'm so sick of hearing about Rex Ryan. The guy sucked as a HC and is overrated like all hell as a defensive genius. I'm not all that excited about Marrone, nor am I any other name being thrown around but he is an obvious upgrade over Rex.
Silly stuff. Coaches are not magicians. They do their best with the talent they have. Top coaches maximize their strengths and hide their weaknesses. If a team has 10 win talent and wins 9 or 11 he has done well. Anymore than that and he has had a great season. Less and it is a disappointment. The best coaches consistently get their clubs to play up to their level. Some of the comments on this board really give coaches too much credit and blame. Find a solid guy who understands the NFL and can hire a good staff and bring in talent and you have a winner. The rest is talk show nonsense.
