I live in Houston. It's a whole city of people who thinks Casserly is a buffoon and who wanted Kubiak gone two years before he was canned (the belief being that he had the most talent in the league and still couldn't win a playoff game). Personally, I wouldn't let Casserly anywhere near a team I owned (and I truly believe he was steered to the Jets by Goodell and Kraft because they know how badly he sucks) and, while I think Kubiak is a good offensive coordinator, I don't want him running my team.
I'm so sick of people thinking coaches are magical wizards that can fix everything I understand his offenses in buffalo were awful, but he had a banged up running back situation with no QB and only a rookie WR. no coach can make that a good offense The fact that they won 9 games and overcame their defencies shows how good of a coach he is
BTW, when Marrone was HC at Syracuse, Rutgers fans made fun of them because he kept getting out-coached by Greg Schiano ... let that one sink in.
You know. You can't give it back. Even if it's Lane Kiffin as your head coach and Matt Millen as your GM. Woody is already interviewing them.
No.. It shows how good of a defensive coordinator they had. Do you think that a HC doesn't play an intricate role on a team? Do you believe that the players do it all on their own? I mean, yeah, the HC is a big deal man. Even if no coach could make that offense good, what has he done to show that he deserves to be the next HC of our team? It just blows my mind how easily people are willing to settle for the worst possible situations. Then when they have something worth keeping they bitch until it's gone, then wonder why we never have a consistent team worth a fuck.
In retrospect, there were huge warning signs that he would leave the Bills - he was seen yelling at some high-up front office person on the practice field in September, in front of reporters. He had to be very angry, or he would've held it in and confronted the guy behind closed doors. In the last 2 years, the Bills used 3 first round picks for: a bust of a 1st round QB, and an almost-1,000 yard receiver. Orton is retiring (not that he was good, but he brought them some competence when they desperately needed it.) They can't draft another early round QB because they used up their pick on Watkins, so they won't have ammo to trade up in the first round. I can see why he'd clash with the front office - but he might just be difficult to get along with. It's a potential red flag that needs to be cleared up, because if he clashes with our new GM things could get ugly pretty quickly. But he might have had legitimate reasons for clashing with them since they were making major, terrible decisions. For Marrone, the Jets make some sense. We have an equally bad QB situation to Buffalo, but in Buffalo 2015 would be the make or break year for him. If he didn't make it to the playoffs with no QB, and no first round pick, he would've be fired. The GM doesn't like him, and a third year without making the playoffs would be a valid reason to fire him. With the Jets, he won't be expected to make the playoffs in 2015, so he'll get to draft a QB in what I assume will be a better QB class in 2016. We also have tons of cap space to make upgrades, and we'll have an easier schedule than the Bills since they finished second in the AFC East vs our fourth place finish. For the Jets, I think it will benefit us to have someone with HC experience - we let him learn how to be a HC his first two years with Buffalo, and then we get the finished product. He knows the division, and managed to coach Buffalo to a winning season with no quarterback and oft-injured RBs in the same division where we flopped with no quarterback. He beat us very badly in a game where his team barely got to practice; although he also somehow lost to the Raiders. I don't know whether he's an offensive guru, but at least he wouldn't pursue the wildcat BS, and would not hesitate to bench an ineffective QB. As a young team, his disciplinarian style might work well for us. Basically- he looked more than competent in Buffalo, which is a huge accomplishment - but I'm worried that he would clash with our new GM. I'd be okay with hiring him and taking the risk.
I would take anyone that we are interviewing over Marrone. With the exception of Tom Gable, fuck that guy.
In 2014, Marrone's Bills finished with a winning record of 9-7, finishing in second place in the division and being one win away from making the playoffs. This was the Bills first winning season in 10 years (The last time was in 2004, when the Bills finished 9-7 under Mike Mularkey) and the next time will be in 2015 when this team improves now that this hambeast of a coach is gone. At the end of the 2014 season it was revealed that Marrone had a three-day "Santa Clause" in his merry fucking contract.[11] On 4th-inches, on December 31, 2014, Marrone opted to punt out of his contract with the Bills- turning his back on his players and the organization.[12] As Doug always said "The field position is always greener playing defense on the other side of the 50." Fans can now only hope and pray that Doug takes his Offensive Coordinator and manlover Nate "Can't Quite" Hackett with him as they were rumored to be headed towards that shit-green dumpster fire over in Jersey. LMAO. That's what someone edited his Wiki page to say right now. I am at the point where I actually really want him because it's just going to piss off Bills fans. They FINALLY have a winning record after a decade, and the coach immediately leaves. I can understand the saltyness, but I really don't give two shits since most Bills fans act like the Bills have been better then the Jets for the last 15 years when everyone knows that isn't true.
Ignorance.. People need to actually fucking watch games, do some research. The guy is supposed to be an offensive minded coach but his offenses are shit. Always have been shit, the guy has no heart, no balls, and is a douche. The life of a Jets fan = Miserable. How in the world do people think this move would make sense? Hell if you turn on your fucking TV you can already see the media talking about how much it doesn't make sense, people within the Jets organization are saying it doesn't make sense. This would be a very bad move. It's just unbelievable. Honestly. It really is.
On a more serious note......FUCK YES, I want Marrone. - Was a key reason why Brees went from mediocre to Hall of Famer. - He got Syracuse out of the Big East cellar and tied for 1st in the conference in his last year. - Led the Bills to their 1st winning record in a decade with Kyle Orton at QB. - Already has head coaching experience. - Already has coached within the division, so he knows the Patriots, Dolphins, and the rest of the AFC well. - Will bring discipline to a team that needs it. - Has already coached for years with the Jets. - Will have the full backing of ownership, unlike in Buffalo. Marrone isn't the coach most Jet fans want, but he's the one the Jets need.
In 2012 he had EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, and Jeff Tuel playing QB and they ranking 19th in offense, which was way above the Jets, and then in 2013 he had Manuel, Orton, and a pair of beat up RB's and still found a way to win 9 games. It's easy to forget that as OC for the Saints in 2006 - 2008 he had the #1 offense, #4 offense, and #1 offense again, and that was before Brees was considered elite.
