I agree with that overall sentiment. I also don't see why it's not possible, or even probable, that the Jets improve as an organization under a different head coach - even if the initial, superficial assessment doesn't yield blatant example in support.
If you take away the 5 TDs that were Pick-6s and and fumbles returned for TDs, the Jets were league-average in points-scored-against this year. If you factor in how many times the Genover gave the other team a short field, you're looking at a Top 10 defense ... which is exactly where the Jets finished in total-yards-against (#6). The defense wasn't the problem. With the defensive backfield we had, it's a miracle we performed as well as we did defensively.
That timeout he called in GB was killer, plus not running the clock out and getting 3 points before the half. But that's on Rex as well.
He gets no credit for the D. It was drafted by Whaley and Nix. It was coached up by Pettine and Schwartz. Both of whom are better HCs than him. He is entirely responsible for their train wreck O. The players were not that inept. He and his talking dummy child OC were entirely to blame. Look I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I'm trying to warn you.
Doug Marrone? Welcome to a top five pick in 2016 and 17. This team is a joke, goes from bad to worse.
I think that with a new owner it's a vote of confidence. Marrone isn't the only coach to want to leave when there's a change in ownership. Parcells was pretty good at that, too. There are also rumors that Bill Polian is returning. Obviously the guy felt no security with the new owners. I'll take him, you can have Rex.
Exactly. The guy is an arrogant egotistical slob who thought he could pressure his novice owner boss into giving him and his useless lackey assistants (Hackett, Morris) a sinecure. And when it didn't work he showed his cowardly back and walked out the door holding a brown paper bag with 4 million bucks in it. Not the guy we want.
Not necessarily. We can't keep passing on people because they MIGHT not be able to handle NY. I think he'll be just fine.
Doug Marrone was born in the Bronx and grew up in the area witch is awsome to me even though it has nothing to do with his coaching ability.
lol, I would rather have mike tice than tom cable. though I do appreciate a coach who knocks out one of his peers. dude must be pretty crazy.
Morrone's team selected Maniel over his own college Qb Nassib which could end up a big mistake. Whose decision was that: Whaley the GM he supposedly doesn't like or was that Morrone's call.
And who do I worship. What are you talking about. I'm not a Rex apologist. I'm just letting you know that if we hire Marrone we will regret it - hard as that may be for you to believe or understand. Over & out.
