Thanks for the good times, Rex. Those first two seasons had some of the best Jet memories.

I cant say I'm thrilled to see him go as I have and do like him in many ways, but I'm not upset either. It's easy to forget after the team played a good game to the end the season (again), but this is now four straight seasons missing the playoffs and there have been a LOT of very, very bad games in these past four years too. Well, I guess we'll see if this was a good decision or not in a few years. I do hope Rex either gets a TV job or ends up in the NFC on a team like Atlanta or Chicago.

As for Idzik, I definitely didn't have the same disdain that the billboarders did, but the biggest factor for me is that a build-through-the-draft GM appears to have struck out at a far-too high rate at drafting players. I think Decker was a good signing, Ivory was a great acquisition, Percy was a worthwhile risk and perhaps the jury is out on some picks yet, but he had the opportunity to make this a more competitive roster by adding more or more quality players at various positions this past offseason without mortgaging the cap in the future, and he didn't.

I suppose I could have envisioned a scenario in which both returned and certainly one where Rex had the potential to be retained, but overall, but I'm not upset.

What contributions did Idzik make exactly? I legitimately think that most of us could have done better than Idzik as GM....

Bradway and the scouts probably won't be released until after the draft; not enough time to recruit a new scouting office and have them do all the prep work they need to between now and draft day.

Jeez- they fired his boss 20 seconds ago.. use common sense.

The Jets aren't going to release a statement that they fired an irrelevant scout. It's commonplace that a new regime = new everything. Bradway might be around for a few months to make suggestions that nobody in power cares about or pays attention to (his role the last 5 years or so) but only because someone has to turn on the lights on until the full staff is assembled. Worrying about Bradway at this point in time is nothing but crybaby stuff. Let it go.. everyone is gone.

    This makes absolutely no sense...

They will be fired for incompetence, why would you then allow them to handle another draft?

The new coach will bring in their own team and they will be ready for the draft.

This is sad day for me.

I enjoyed Rex Ryan's tenure as Jets coach.
In my mind, he's the second greatest coach in Jets, behind Bill Parcells.
Some may say Weeb Ewbank, but I was a little kid when he was manning the sidelines.

Rex may have been brash, but he made the team relevant.
Two AFC championship game appearances in his first two years buys a lot of goodwill.

I have no doubt he will be coaching another team if he chooses.

    Good luck coach.....

As for Idzik, as my mom told me, if you have nothing nice to say....

Gary Myers predicting that Rex will go into TV next year..that he might be a hard sell to a team's fan base right now

No they won't, these scouts have already been on the road and scouted 100s of players how the hell do you expect a brand new scouting department to hit the road and come up with scouting reports on 100s of players in like 2 months?

They've scouted players for the current Jets system. All of their work is irrelevant now.

How do you know the new defense won't be a 4-3 or if the offense is completely changed?

Also, the new coaching staff won't be bringing scouts in that have been doing NOTHING.
If you're a scout, you scout, that's what you do.

Chances are the new coach will have people in mind and it will be because they've worked together before. Therefore the new scouts will know the scheme they need to find the players for and will be better suited to find the Jets players than the current scouting team.

    Sure there is.....
I doubt the new GM will rely on the words of someone he hasn't worked with before.
As pointed out early, the new head guy will be bringing in his own people.
