thinking about this a bit and ignoring all other opinons - they are both goners soon after the last game. no chance woody doesn't wipe the plate clean.....contrary to popular belief he has half a brain AND someone has to be whispering in his ear repeatedly as this year unfolded. Not only does he risk questions within the football community if he doesn't do it, he risks a media backlash worse than ever.
Not really. It's Woody's decision he can do whatever he wants..there's enough writing on the wall Rex could be retained, not that he will or should be.
I want them both gone but let's face it Rex is the lesser evil, Maybe a 2 HC system could work?? Rex the D and the other one the O. Just throwing it out there..
Or he has simply decided on his own or with the counsel of trusted advisors that Idzik is not satisfactorily accomplishing that which he was hired to do, fans and media notwithstanding.
It looks like Casserly, the consultant, needs to get in touch with some of the gang green itself. Not a day goes by that we don't see "everybody knows" or "it's a proven fact" right on these boards. Once old Charlie cleared up those questions in his mind he could right the ship of state. Set sail for the Superbowl, boys!
I hope that this hire brings continuity and uniformity to the entire organization. Bring in an entire staff to work together from GM to scouting down to the lowest assistant coaches. No more cherry picking this scout this executive and this head coach to all get shaken up together. Everyone's gotta be on the same page and they haven't been since Tanny left. That's why successful organizations like the Ravens and Packers keeps most of their scouting, personnel evaluating positions and executives as guys promoted from within.
Assuming Casserly does get hired the term of his contract could be very telling. Three months or less, probably just to aid in selecting a coach or a coach and GM, but he probably wouldn't be needed to just get a coach. Six months, all the above plus draft assistance for whomever is the GM du jour. Twelve months or more could indicate he'll be kept on to assist the GM in making key decisions which would mean Idzik is staying. This could also be an open ended contract because he wants a longer payoff and Woody wants somebody around to lean on. So, the contract term could be telling or could mean nothing at all; we'll have to listen to how the term and duties are described.
Casserly had major problems with the Houston media and even fought with his coach. Not sure he can handle NY in today's era.
If Woody can get Jim H., then even this Rex fan will say it's the right move. If he brings in some young OC like McDaniels or Case or another DC like Quinn or even Mark Trestman, uggh
Woody in a surprise move that will bring forth the apocalypse will hire Brian Schottenheimer as the new HC of the Jets.
Herm Edwards to be named head motivational speaker of the NYJ. That's the first step to righting this ship.
If he has any professional integrity left he should quite. I don't see him getting any GM position but many teams can use a cap specialist.
