I thought the season was over after last week's win and we were locked into the 6th pick?

    Go figure

A nice consolation prize for losing to New England. Now imagine if we lost to Tennessee:mad: either way, if we get pick #3, we might luck out and get Cooper or Mariota. It would just take just one of those teams ahead of us to pick someone else and we would get the other.

If we win and the skins and raiders lose we will have the 6th pick.

4th pick could land us a nice player, same as 5th, 6th or 1oth.

the 4th pick landed us Dewayne Robertson. the 18th pick got us Darrelle Revis. 29th pick Nick Mangold.

Hopefully Bradway won't be around to screw this one up.

While that may be true, the 4th pick still holds more value than the 18th pick or the 29th pick. Value that can be truly realized by trading down, or by having a good scouting dept.

Maybe trading down is for the best.

I think in terms of depth in the secondary considering the guys who've gotten a chance to play we could be ok. I'd prefer more experience at Cb, we'll see whose available. Cooper would be great. The draft is the way to get O-linemen. Good vets are too expensive. Remember Alan Faneca. And most important: sign a good vet FA Qb. You should be able to get one for 2014 Vick money but not Vick. You can't go into 2015 with Geno as the starter. The idea is to win now.

the problem with the higher picks is it is significantly driven by attention the media has focused on flashy performers who have great stats and highlights but not the grind it out ability needed to succeed, and players who simply perform but don't have the media attention or flashy highlights drop and are actually better players.

That would a great WR core. Mix in Salas (yeah, baby!!). lol

Then go out and get Bryce Petty in a later round, and get a FA QB to control the ship, and have Simms, Petty and the FA battle it out!

Historically the 4th pick is a lot better than the 6th pick (Brick was a 4th pick).

One other point, I am going on record right now in saying Winston will be this years Bridgewater/Geno. Once the dude's game is looked at, he will start sinking like a stone. He is legitimately no better than Geno Smith/EJ Manual and the pre-draft hype is insane. He had 24 td passing and 17 int playing joke of a schedule. He is going to get annihilated against Oregon too. And someone legitimately wants this dude on the Jets after the Sanchez/Geno nightmares?

And who do want to QB the Jets next year and, at some point, into the future? All I've seen from you for three years is Sanchez sucks, Geno sucks, and now Winston sucks. Who are you short and long term answers at QB? Let's hear it.

I'm not sold on the QBs this year, of course the position is so important that the risk can be worth the reward but I just don't see any that leap out to me. Odds are we'll be picking top 5 against next year so maybe we can get out QB in the 2016 draft. Yay!

I've said it a million times. Mariota or Cook long-term. Bradford for next year (an/or longterm). Just because Sanchez, Geno and Winston all suck ass does not mean that I don't have guys I want.

While we are on guys who are going to suck, please no Hundley (and the same goes for Dak Prescott when he comes out).

Unless there is a huge upset next week, Mariotta will be gone and Cook is staying in school based on everything I've heard, so Bradford is your guy. What if the Jets don't get Bradford?

If I am the GM, I try to go and get Cutty. However, what you are suggesting is the exact reason teams get in trouble. Just because you need a qb doesn't mean you should take a shitty one in the 1st round (i.e., Winston) - that sets your team back more than getting a stopgap and praying that he works out. Look at last year - Houston needed a qb (and still do), but they didn't take one at 1 because there were no good qb's to be had (I know Clowney has been bad so far, but I think he will ultimately turn out okay). We should do the same if Mariota is off the board.

That's not true at all. If you hand pick examples in a vacuum to prove a point maybe, because there are outliers in either group, but over the years statistically one thing is true: the better players come from the top of the draft.

It's not really rocket science - if you pick high you have a better chance at a good players

Again, playing shit teams all year long his td/int ration is 24/17. Extrapolate against NFL defenses, and if the kid does better than 12/25 next year, that will be a miracle.

Let's be real about Winston - if he played in the SEC West, he would probably be putting up Geno-like numbers in college. In other words, if my job depended on drafting players, I would only draft Winston in the 4th round, at best.

I feel as this post is sarcastic. If we miss out of Mariota and maybe winston(idk how i feel about him) , then what do you wanna do? Get cooper help out whoeevr our qb will be next year. idk what to tell you , Cooper to me is a cant-miss prospect and is a polished wr.

Mariota played shittier defenses than Winston did.. And he had much more talent around him. Let's put him in the SEC west.

And you are just really biased with that 4th round talk. That's ridiculous
