Forget how it stacks up with the league... When we the last time we MADE the Super Bowl... How many home playoff games have the season ticket holders been rewarded with? We should be proud that we aren't quite the Raiders or Jaguars? Even the Raiders made the Super Bowl in the last 20 years. So have teams like the Bucs (who won one), Cardinals, Titans & Panthers. The Saints figured it out and won one. The team we share a stadium with has won 2 very recently. We are mired in mediocrity and incompetence.
We stopped using SB's as a metric (except Champ) long ago. Some folks around here insist that 8-8 is a winning season. They still bring up those AFCCG losses like it was yesterday. Ah the memories.... Fact is this franchise and fanbase has been down so long that we take whatever we can get sometimes. 8-8? Broadway tickertape parade. Beating the Patriots is our Super Bowl now since we stand no chance of playing in the real one anytime soon. If you set the bar low enough, you'll always find something to hang your hat on no matter what.
Add in that Johnson took over as owner when the Jets were relatively on top, and it's been somewhat up and down, but mostly down, since he became the owner.
Actually Idzik has done quite a lot in less than 2 years so far. Here is a list of his accomplishments again: - took us from salary cap hell to one of the best cap situations in the league - completely retooled the offensive skill players, taking us from the league worst (Hill, Holmes, Cumberland, Greene) to a really good set of weapons (Harvin, Decker, Amaro, Ivory) - got us one of the best young defensive players in the league in Richardson - once a few years pass, it is likely that his drafts will be seen as decent, as aside from Richardson and Amaro, who already look really good, Pryor will probably become a good player once he is playing his natural position (as we've seen lately), Aboushi, Dozier, IK, Bohannon could all be legit starters for us, and hell, even Milliner could still turn out to be a contributor - probably has the best trading record of any GM in the league in the last two years as he has managed to turn 2 4th rounders into Ivory and Harvin (assuming Harvin stays next year) - stayed away from his predecessor's follies by NOT overpaying mediocre players such as DRC - gave a highly ranked QB prospect a chance to play in Geno without reaching for him Keep in mind, this is in less than 2 years, while handicapped to a large degree by the cap situation, and without even being able to select his own head coach. Seems pretty good to me. I didn't say 8-8 were winning seasons, I am just saying 2/3rds of the seasons under Woody we've been 8-8 or better, meaning competitive. Win-loss comparison is a little deceiving because most losses were accumulated during only a few seasons, I think looking at it on a per season basis is more informational. Speaking of comparisons to other teams, here are the 49ers, a team usually thought to be very well run: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sfo/ You can see during the same time as Woody has owned the Jets, the 49ers have only made the playoffs 5 times (compared to our 6), and have had 8 losing seasons (compared to only 5 for us). So they've had a losing record 8 ouf the last 15 seasons, or more than half the time. They might even finish with 9 if they lose more games this year. Here are the Dolphins: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/ Only 3 playoff appearances since 2000 and 7 losing seasons. Obviously you can find teams since 2000 who have done better than the Jets, but you can also find many who have done worse.
he gets paid millions of dollors to pick football players...if hes not able to take heat from fans that pay hundreds of dollors to see the garbage he put on they feild then he shouldnt be here
Check the thread name for one. Secondly: http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/will-john-idzik-be-fired.82675/ As the pole shows the majority of people think Idzik will be back next year. http://www.similarweb.com/website/firejohnidzik.com Estimated web traffic for your website shows approximately 95K visitors in the last 3 months with approximately half of that being return visits by the same unique user and approximately 50 seconds spent on your site per visit. Who's kidding who about representing 90% of the fan base? Edit: As far as the real world goes, I've been a Jets fan my entire life. I know a lot of other Jets fans. Exactly one thinks that the billboard isn't dumb as hell.
Trying to pass off the disaster that is Geno Smith as an accomplishment says a lot. Agreed he didn't "reach" for Geno but he did draft him and it blew up in his face. It wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to argue that getting a solid qb is far and away the most important roster move for a gm. Idzik has not done that.
haha.. we have been around for just over a month - so quoting our web traffic for the last 3 seems silly.. And again I say… go to the games…. look at the reaction that ANYBODY who wears a Fire Idzik shirt receives as they walk around. Your opinion will be HEAVILY swayed. But why listen to somebody who knows rather than come up with your own uninformed opinion. In your eyes, we are a creation of the media that no Jets fans support. My man - you are lost in your little bubble. Do you even go to the games?
You certainly have some fan support. No where near the delusional 90% you think. You represent a vocal minority of foolish people.
What are your hard numbers? How many unique visitors to your website a day? A week? How much time do they spend there? I've seen your twitter. It's nothing impressive in the least. I've seen nothing except rhetoric from you about how many people you claim to represent. All first world knowledge I have of this shows me that outside of your little bubble, people think your a joke or a curiosity. Yes, I do go to games.
You're 100% right. Idzik is a living, breathing, person with feelings & a family to feed. Idzik should be kept so he can continue to roll out his grand plan. P.S. Also saves the stress of Pats & other AFCE teams' fans from having to deal with a competitive Jets team for years to come.
