Every post in this thread up to this point is spot on. You guys get it. Some other posters here dont, like the clueless guys who want to scold real Jets fans because we want a better draft pick. There is a major problem with the owner of the Jets, Woody Johnson. He inherited everything he has. He has never put in an honest days work in his life. He was born on third base, and thinks he hit a triple. That is the problem with the Jets. The team won't win with Woody at the helm. And he's not selling any time soon.
I agree. However there does need to be a moderate earthquake at One Jets Drive. Something around a 6.5 should do it. The rebuild needs to START in two weeks and completed at some point in 2015.
Woody is Charlie Brown. I Photoshopped him like that a few years ago and absolutely nothing has changed. He's the kid that looks at the outside of his world and says Good Grief because the little red haired girl won't pay attention to him. Although the little red haired girl isn't a woman, because he can buy those with his daddy's fortune. The little red haired girl is respect and a Super Bowl victory for the football team he bought to be part of the big boys, his life hobby, since the rest of his life is nothing but tax writeoffs. Even his dog laughs at him. Fitting that it's in MetLife Stadium.
i'm under the assumption that rex goes idzic stays. not sure if that registers a 6.5. but i am not expecting anymore than that
I think bringing in Hardbaugh would unite the fan base but I'm not sold on it being the best move.I honestly don't know what the best move to make is for a head coach any more but at this point Woody needs to hit it out the park to help this sinking ship return to land
Lets just start with the bold part to keep the veins in my neck...in my neck. Does any Jet fan after watching the past 2 drafts want IDZIK to be the one to spend all of this money? Come on guys..please..some of us old Jet fans are getting...ummm...older. I do agree with the part about going to church...but just replace it with "thank you God for letting me pull the wool over their eyes for 2 years..not just 1". Listen..CMAN...you are dead on..and you are dead on with the comparison to LEON HESS. Back in the mid 90's this franchise was almost identical. Hess was considered the most LOYAL..and because of that, worst owners in the NFL. He finally got the bug in his head that this was beyond a joke. This team didn't need a POTENTIAL superstar coach. It didn't need a gazillion dollars to be spent on several players. It needed a God like figure that the whole league respected...even if they hated him. Enter Parcells...and for several seasons...laughing stock did NOT equal Jets. For Jet fans back then, you had a pride about you. You knew you were in good hands. You didn't know if you would win a superbowl but you knew routing for your team was now "different". Thats it. Thats what Woody needs to do. Whether that person is Harbaugh or whoever...he needs a guy that is stronger then the loser mentality that is the Jets. Period.
U talking about the idiot who fired his GM and then needed help fro an outside source and the NFL on finding a new guy....then chooses the last guy on the list. Yep, 3-13 sounds about right...lol
Well, IF they do bring in a new GM I am almost certain he will have a strong personnel background. He will also have the benefit of his own scouting reports for this year from whatever organization he has come from. He may not be able to replace the guys the Jets have (Bradway excepted, of course) but he can direct them to concentrate their efforts on guys he already knows about and likes. That will probably not help us as we move lower through the draft. But on the bigger picks he should be up to snuff. IF Woody goes after another cap guy, all bets are off. I am not sure that Idzik is going, though. I don;t think Woody wants the newspapers to appear to be running him.
That's Him! Now, all we need is some photoshop expert to put a White ill fitting Jets cap on that head and we have Woody Johnson! Might make a great avatar too.. (hint hint)
It's not what I want to happen. But I think odds are you are right. So we can plan on watching JI screw up another off season. Wonderful.
I've "railed against the wind" for 2 days now and have completely run out of steam and energy...I've just about hit the point where i don't care. BECAUSE this is the Jets I fully expect Rex to be fired. I fully expect Idzik to stay. Woody just simply does not have the stones to clean house completely. I fully expect for discussions, such as this one, to continue for the next couple years. About the only thing we can absolutely hang our hats on, as far as John Idzik goes, is he most certainly does not seem to have the ability to identify talent. There is a line of proof in the last 2 drafts to support that. Everything else is just window dressing at this point. The man's number 1 mantra is competition and by gaining talent through the draft. The problem is it doesn't appear that he has the ability to identify NFL caliber talent. Debatable...but that is my opinion. It doesn't matter the HC you bring in... Someone mentioned about Woody not really knowing how to work hard...he's inherited everything he has ever got. That sounds about right. He's never had to "struggle" or make a "hard" decision when it comes to business. He has ALWAYS had others do that for him. He's never had to build something from the ground up and our team is a reflection of that. This offseason will be a reflection of that. Hiring a 3rd party search firm was a reflection of that. Woody Johnson needs to grow up. He needs to fire the whole lot of them...he needs to talk to his peers and find a football person to run this show and step back. End o' story... At this point I could care less about the rest of the season and will most certainly not waste my time spending 4 hours each Sunday watching a train wreck pull into "End of the Road" station. But I'm going to be watching the FO very closely the minute the season ends. Johnson cleans full house and he just might gain my attention again... Anything other than a full house cleaning and I might not pay attention for a very long time.... I'm really really tired...aren't you?
The resemblance is scary.. LOL I'm amazed you found a picture of Woody with that ill fitting cap. Good Work!
